With all due respect to the bloke, being assistant manager at Rangers and Villa are the biggest jobs he's had. I'm not going to speculate on whether Gerrard really believes it'd take him 20 years to become as good, but Beale has about 4 years experience coaching senior teams and about 15 years in various roles with the youth teams. I don't know what he does, he could be an absolute genius who's wasted on us, but it's not a CV indicative of a once in a generation coach we can't hope to improve upon. That's the path these days if you weren't an elite player. If you're Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard you get given jobs you're not qualified for. mikeyp102
Why would he leave to go to Charlton? So many times too coaches have failed as lead man. He’s at a top club which is looking to go places, why would he give that away at this stage of his career?

Pretty much this, even if he fails at Charlton Gerrard will probably take him back as coach

Sulberto21
Why would Beale leave to go to Charlton ? Personal reasons etc be closer to family. Also coaches the calibre of Beale are ten a penny in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal etc. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1006758/uefa-pro-licence-coaches-europe-by-gender/ Quote The statistic shows the number of coaches with UEFA pro licence in selected national associations in Europe in 2017, by gender. In 2017, Spain had 44 female coaches with a UEFA pro licence. However I wonder what Richard O’Kelly is doing these days?

This is a topic about the back room staff not the main man. Liverpool have recently lost a couple of very highly rated analysts and a couple of coaches but I don’t know how highly rated the coaches were.

In Michael's case, he may have developed a taste for those deep fried Mars bars whilst at Rangers.

MaVilla
no idea why he would want to go and manage Charlton, makes no sense tbh. Sounds like paper talk to me.
sidcow Posted May 19, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted May 19, 2022 OMG, Gerrard is shit, how bad is he going to be when the brains of the operation has gone? Do people not realise what a nuts opinion that is? About as dumb as it gets really. If Beale is the ACTUAL brains, but Gerrard is shit...... Then it's actually Beale who is shit. Durr. Hopefully Beale **** off ASAP and Gerrard gets in some new actual brains are aren't shit. Then Gerrard might be a better manager with someone else operating his arms and mouth.

John
Bit of a step up for Charlton isn't it. They had this bloke not long ago and we all know who he left them for:
