Popular Post colhint
The way he is with the ball at his feet. Tell you what, when Heaton is fit, I'd get him straight back in Goal and play Emi midfield. 1
jimcohen
What a signing. So composed. Distribution was brilliant. And a brilliant save. Happy days!
Keyblade
The one thing missing from Heaton's game was playing with the ball at his feet. Emi is a huge upgrade in that regard, in addition to the fact that he seems better at the other aspects too if that was even possible.
GENTLEMAN
Looks massive inbetween the sticks. Obviously great P save. But most impressed with claiming of crosses, no fumbles, and distribution. Oozes confidence. Will only get better with familiarity with defence. Few unnecessary headers from defenders when he was claiming and shouting. Seems like a leader too, up to the challenge. To think both keepers today cost the same...hmm Edited September 21, 2020 by GENTLEMAN ssss

Vive_La_Villa
Again only one game but if he continues like this it does make you wonder how we pulled this off. (KW gif). Especially when you look at Chelsea’s keeper.

Tom pulled off some massive saves for us last season. Great shot stopper. But can't play it on the ground like this guy.
Zatman
except for the penalty save which was a great save, he wasnt really tested but because of his performance I think was more that he snuffed out the danger

I'm only glad Frank stuck by his blind belief that he is a good keeper, and Martinez was sold a vision by our leadership that persuaded him to take a step down. Looks every bit the gk that Arsenal fans were upset to lose.

Kepa is a disgrace to goalkeeping especially as he is the world record transfer fee and probably wont be beaten for a long time

Assuming that TransferMarkt's stats are correct, amazingly it is true! Three GKs have saved penalties for us in the Premier League and kept a clean sheet, however, none of them at Villa Park. Bosnich in a 0-0 draw at Everton in 98/99, Thomas Sorenson in a 2-0 win at Man City in 06/07 and Brad Guzan in a 1-0 win at Norwich in 13/14. Funnily enough, it even holds up in the Championship and again with GK doing it away from home, with Nyland in a 1-0 win at Swansea in 18/19. Spoony
This might have been a bit of a coup for us. Chelsea fans are lamenting that they didn’t go after him.

His penalty save was absolutely terrific and amazing. I believe Martinez will be for us like Schmeichel was for utd, he will save us points and at early days 20 mill is looking like a bloody steel. Would not surprise me if Arsenal fans are already going nutz saying *why have we even sold Martinez look how hes playing for Villa* Oh they are. There’s plenty of them who think he’s better than Leno
abdulaziz1
A hero. Glad we got him rather than Romero. There are Arsenal fans that I know are cheering for Villa because of him!

ozvillafan Posted September 22, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted September 22, 2020 Could not have asked for a better debut. So comfortable with his feet throughout, even when placed under pressure by dodgy backpasses. A great penalty save. And a clear and decisive grab from a cross late on. Superb.
