No real proof it's the case, and perhaps the manager was trying to suggest that with the right environment and some mental training that he isnt actually a genuine crock. That said it would be a no from me. The pace of the game in that video is miles from what even the championship is, let alone the premier league. Looks like he's playing so gingerly that he's either carrying an injury or worried about moving for fearv of pulling a muscle. Shame as I'd have loved us signing him a few years ago when the fact he supported us might have seen him drop to our level.
