Disagree 100%. Bissouma is skilled at breaking up play in the transition. Slowing play and giving the defence more time to set. This is our single biggest issue at the football club. I think if we hold onto Coutinho, Luiz will be more on his, Buendias and Ramsey's wavelength. I love McGinn but he can lose his composure while passing the ball forward and over hit it. He just lacks concentration. He switches off and doesn't have great defensive instincts. A slow player with good instincts, that reads the game well defensively would block off that run those run. Offers the back 4 little protection but I also think the way the other two CM's push out wide doesn't help him either. Feels like he's getting exposed more because of it. Honestly, there is a reason we're 11th in the league, and that's because players like Luiz just are not performing at a high enough level for us to consistently win football matches. I think it's the difference in opinion with the first part of this sentence that causes people to jump to using the word scapegoat. I think both Mings and Luiz were amongst our better players last night - our best three were Coutinho, Ramsey and Buendia I think, then I'd put Cash, Mings and Luiz as having decent games with Digne, Watkins and Martinez as sort of okay, Konsa as poor and McGinn as rubbish. That's how I saw it - happy for you to disagree. From there though, there seem to be a bundle of people who would put Mings and Luiz as the worst two players, the two to blame for the failures in the performance. Objectively I really struggle to see that. When there's a consistency to these opinions and that consistency of opinion doesn't seem to be affected by whether the players play well or not, then people look to find reasons for that - now it might just be that there are people objectively seeing poor performances week in and week out from players while other people are objectively seeing good performances from players week in and week out - that opinions are just different - but they're so different that I don't think you can be too surprised when people start looking for labels for them. Luiz was decent last night, he was good on the ball and struggled defensively as part of a three man unit where one was given licence to get forward (and did so brilliantly) and one didn't turn up - I thought it was a seven out of ten performance. I thought Mings did well too, at times he was the only man in our defence who looked like he wanted to keep Leeds out. I was genuinely surprised to find out post match that a large number of fans thought that those two were responsible for our losing the lead, it seems to me amazing and strange that people would see a game so differently to the one I watched and of course, it leads you to question those people and the ways in which they've come to those conclusions - but ultimately, putting a label on it is unhelpful, even if it would make things simpler to understand from my point of view - at the end of the day, it's just opinions and they can be as widely and as consistently different as you like. 6 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Pointing out players who aren’t playing well, is not scapegoating, it’s pointing out players who aren’t playing well. He was awful last night. Lost possession 11 times.
