lexicon
Most tackles and most key passes in the team. Doing bits at both ends. Great to see Matt finding some form again. We know he's a good player after last season.
Vive_La_Villa
I think he played well yesterday against a very quick full back. That’s more like it.
TomC
The tactics suited him well. Rather than ending up isolated on the wing one-on-one against a faster player, which happened many times earlier this year, Gerrard's tactic to funnel players down the wings meant that he was essentially at the back of a cul-de-sac where his tackling could be used without getting burned by pace. bobzy
Quietly solid today and took his goal very well.

I really thought he'd messed it up after his first touch, I should have had more faith, sorry Matt.
Zhan_Zhuang
Good finish for his goal. Watched Targett's interview on AVTV, such a humble guy.

The Fun Factory
Pleased for him. Has obviously had a tough start to the season but he was honest and fronted up about it. Hopefully can crack on now and carry on with the form he reached last season.
WooJung
He's had a poor run of games but it must be said, across the two games under Gerrard he's arguably been our best player. Colossal against Brighton and created good chances, solid today and a goal on top of that! Good lad

zab6359
That early season loss of form is really frustrating as he's coming back to his best now.
bose
Targett of last season back today. Such a confidence player.
May-Z
So strange. This sort of form earlier in the season and we may have had three more wins. I wonder if having JJ close to him and making his first thought a defensive one has reassured him and made the difference.
villalad21
I just can't see him being anything else but a backup option under Gerrard long term. He is still relying on last ditch sliding tackles to bail him out because of lack of pace. It isn't sustainable. Be amazed if we don't sign a new left back in the summer. But for now he’s doing fine and has had a couple of games.
hippo
These female commentators really are hopeless the one I was listening too describing the goal "He takes a good first touch" ! I like target more than most. His form nosedived without Jack in front of him. But now the midfield is functioning again his form has picked up again. Whether he meant it or not, it was perfect. Got it under control while taking it away from the defender at the same time, if it was anywhere nearer to the defender, he's either not getting a shot off at all or it's being blocked. And I think he did at least sort of mean it as he sort of spins it into a position to hit it.
