I can't actually think of many worse or depressing signings we could make this summer. Thankfully, I'm 100% confident we will be looking much, much higher than this. It matters what we pay because the future sell on value needs to very in our favor. Not like last time round. It matters what we pay in wages so we aren't losing tens of millions every couple of months. Not like last time around. Actually the wages is the important part, which is why a players “cost” is actually his purchase price plus wages, because this is what adds up to the FFP calculation or PL equivalent. The upside of these championship players is a 5 year contract and £35k p.w. is manageable. The club can afford £Xm for a position so if they spend more on the fee it may be balanced off by the [lower] wages. I am sure Purslow knows what he is doing.
