MaVilla Posted June 25, 2019 Share Posted June 25, 2019 (edited) Just looking at Wolves, they spent 101m in their first season back in the Prem, 160m ish total if you include the previous 2 seasons also on the lead up to promotion. excluding this season we spent 20m in the previous 2 seasons, and then obviously the 75m we spent in our first season down (hot damn did we waste that 75m - nearly 40m on McCormack, Hogan, Tshibola, Bree, Lansbury, De Laet, Bedeau, Thor) Will be interesting to see what we end up spending this season, could possibly top 100m (i would guess we need to spend 100m bare minimum considering the state of our squad numbers?), maybe even closer to 120/130m?, who knows, hopefully we can get some decent deals? It's worked so far Wolves because there has been a perfect storm with Mendes having the right players and Manager available at the right time, but it's not something that I think can bring success over a long duration. Not 100% true is it? Why would the clubs that the players belong to hand them over for small sums just because Mendes asks them to. They still want the best deal they can get. Pretty sure there are sell on clauses in the deals that will bring them money once the players are sold on. As far as I can remember I've not seen anything about Mendes players forcing a move (unlike with Raiola's).
