Thought he was one of our better players today.

And still lost Mane for the opener and lost Salah for the knock down leading to the 2nd

Says it all about our team

Could argue he should have done better to get in front of Mane for the first, he was probably at fault, but can't say it was a big blunder. Except that I thought he was perhaps our best player, at least during the first half. He managed to get out of tight positions well at several times, made vital blocks, good passing, a specialist left back performance. And that was against Salah, one of the best players in the world. Very good to have him as back up left back.Β

I dont think anybody would question his defensive play so much, its just the lack of balance he gives us up the other end of the pitch which is needed for the modern full back

I think he's a gash defender, both at defending and going forward.

Another premiership team wouldn't touch him with a bargepole, and the only reason we should keep him next season is if we are relegated and need backup.

He should be nowhere near the first 11.

Seems like a lovely bloke tho tbf, just a terrible footballer.

He's been ok since the restart to be fair to him.

He still absolutely kills any attack that comes down his side. I'd have Targett over him for that reason alone. But he's not been bad lately.

Nobody will touch him as he cant attack, he is a defender of a different generation. Teams dont sign one way types of full backs anymore they have to be capable of doing both and arguably the attacking part is more important now.Β

A lot of the top teams the width comes from the full backs now and this has filtered down the ladder

A different generation of defenders that can't defend?

The amount of times last season he tripped or fell over the ball while trying to tackle or close a player down, or got turned and ended up on his derriere, I swear we could have done a highlight reel.

I have no problem with old school defenders, but he isn't old school, he's just cr*p.
