If they ever saw that money. I do wonder how much of the 5m Reading saw for Tshibola. Not that I am saying anything untoward was going on. Definitely not saying there were maybe some agents and managers taking funds out of these deals.

Definitely not. They make perfect sense

That one is as bad as when Manure payed £8m for Bébé

Or when people at Manure sanctioned the move to buy djemba djemba only for people at Aston Villa to then actually buy him with money too.

Didnt he cost us more tham Hourihane at the time

We had Hutton, de Laet and Bacuna when he joined then Bruce signed Elmo and played Tuanzebe there. Its like we signed him because we could. Another of the failed Villa transfer policies

Understanding was when we bought Hourihane despite him being out of contract soon was worth way more than we paid. Barnsley were keen to avoid losing money on his sell on clause to Plymouth Argyle so we agreed to load the money on the Bree deal in order to keep Barnsley sweet. To be fair Bree was a quite highly rated youngster at the time and I think his stats for Luton while he's been on load (especially given they've been struggling) have been very good.

Fingers crossed we don't give up on him too soon only to see him become another Lowton. Kid could at the very least act as a good squad cover regardless of the league we're in.

If we stay up, wouldn't be opposed to keeping him at Luton for next year as well. Very interesting to see him as the set piece specialist as said before.

Don't see him replacing Elmo or Guilbert in the PL yet.

That January was literally just a flex of the muscles from Bruce. Signed a bunch of players seemingly because he could. Really only Hourihane, and to some extent Taylor have been successes.

Assuming we stay up I'd like to see him loaned to a better Championship team. Or at least one that didn't mean him having to live in a shit hole like Luton.

Poor guy. Luton is **** rancid.

Contract expires after next season. Either we sell him and get money for him now (or much less in January) or he leaves for free after that season.

Guess we can try and extend his contract and loan him out, but has he shown enough to warrant that? Not seen him a Luton so no idea.

Hasn't played for villa for a couple of years, in line with the villa rule of "the longer we don't see them, the better we believe they are"......

He must be world class by now???

It obviously hasn't changed much since 2002 then?

I used to go to night collage there at that time. Was a long walk from the Barnfield Tech Collage off the A6.

Even longer at 21:30 at night walking the streets of Luton back to the train station on an hour walk in pitch black to ensure I caught the last train (22:30) back to Kettering. It was an experience that's for sure.

As for James Bree... I agree that another loan out somewhere in the championship won't do him any harm.

I watched him in Luton's game against Hull, thought he looked pretty decent, althought Hull weren't offering much of an attacking threat so hard to judge him defensively, he looked good going forward though and was taking all their set-pieces and was putting in good deliveries, in fact looking at his stats he's provided eight assists this season which is pretty good going for a right-back.

We've got Elmohamady and Guilbert already and Kane Kesler who's meant to be one our most promising academy products coming through, so not sure what kind of future he's going to have with us.

He is pretty much the forgotten man

Walking up Wembley way for the final last year he was wandering through the villa fans back towards the Hilton.

Not one person stopped him.
