  1. Twice last year. I'd still keep him around though.
  2. I saw it and he did look really good, certainly a better performance than any in a Villa shirt. Also he conceded twice which seems to be his average...
  3. If I was Stoke, I'd want Steer in return. Would also lower the actual fee so less money for Brum.

    Scott Hogan

I am quite sure he will be with us until the end of the window and will then go out on loan to the highest bidder, if only because I think we will have to do the same for some of the players we want to get in. Hopefully he'll be next season's Tammy in the Championship... well we can hope.
  5. I've just come in from a great night too and I too am reading Villa news before bed. I read VillaTalk precisely because I can disseminate all the click bait stories. You should be encouraging people to do this for us!
  6. We'll see Whelo for the last 20 on Tuesday. Perfectly managed imo.
  7. I think it was always the plan to start Hourihane for the second leg.
  8. Gayle out for the second leg is like an extra goal. We are in the box seat now. And Grealish was fantastic.
  9. So does Hutton start or come in off the bench? Would like him to see some action.
  10. 6 days, 9 points and sitting 6th after a completely one-sided game against a team 4 places above us in 5th and with the league's best defence. I was so confident about this game I invited my wife to watch it with me. We are playing beautiful football and that's with Tammy struggling a bit. I love watching Villa right now!
  11. I thought he looked lively when he came on, seemed like a really well timed sub to me.

    AVTV 2018/9

It works fine for me, I have a computer plugged into a 55" TV and the resolution is still pretty good with no freezes. When I watch at the pub, the internet can cause a few freezes.
  13. I just flipped the month on this year's Villa calendar and see that March is Chester. This follows Bolasie for January and Tuanzebe for February. Looking ahead I see Hutton is April so I'm really concerned for Grealish in May. Is there any chance that a player will be fit and/or at the club for the month they represent in 2019?
  14. Under contract, in the prime of his career and playing regularly in the Championship, we'll get some cash for him at the end of the season at the very least. Much better than letting old, high-paid midfielders leave for free.
  15. All signings are a risk, at least he has time on his side. I'm not necessarily suggesting we sign him, just that he seems the best value out of the Brentford players suggested and would address an immediate need.
  16. To me it seems we need to stop paying big fees for older players so Rico Henry is the only player I would target from Brentford. They obviously don't need to sell so he won't be cheap which is probably why there is a lack of news. Sounds like Fuchs is the fallback position. The CDM we need will come from somewhere else. Just my read on the lack of movement in the market. Only 2 more games until the window closes...
  17. I like the idea of a 3-5-2, our defence is awful, only 3 other teams have shipped more goals in the Championship. I realise Smith likes to attack but a solid foundation for attacking is needed. Plus it looks like our new left back isn't arriving anytime soon.
  18. No chance we will offer him a one year contract? Seems a shame to just let him go for nowt.
  19. I wouldn't want an option to buy Fuchs, he's 32. He'd be a stop gap measure until the end of the season. My guess is we are pursuing younger options right now and Fuchs will only come in nearer the end of the window... or if Taylor gets crocked again in the next couple of weeks. Just a guess mind, he'll probably be announced on Monday for all I know.

    Jed Steer

    Will Steer be recalled?

    Ørjan Nyland

He needs to figure out how to deal with crosses/corners and command his box. If our keeper doesn't do that then he really isn't much use. He could possibly figure that out on loan somewhere. His distribution is good and all the other aspects of his game are mostly fine. I think he makes the defence look worse than they are.
  22. Good news and the right decision. It's like a new signing!
