That's bollocks I believe it was still on target despite the deflection, which means it should be Mile's goal.

Yep, his goal, and has now been given as such.

Interviewer: You mentioned Jedinak's going straight to London, could he play at centre half? You've tried him there before and he's done ever so well for you there hasn't he?

Bruce: "Yep"

Interviewer: "Could he....?"

Bruce: "Ultimately, ultimately, I've had a word with him, that's where I see him, I think he's tailor made for it. He, he is defensive minded and done very very well for Crystal Palace and for us in that defensive midfield role. He's excellent at it. I put him back last year in a couple of games and took to it no problem, so yes, I've got that up me sleeve"

I love Mile but I have to question this. When have we played so much better with him and as opposed to whom?

Last season I think we won only 2 or 3 games without him in the team. Whelan has done a job, but Jedinak brings superior defensive qualities...even neither of them can pass mind you haha.

Whelan's pass completion is 81.7%

Last season Jedinak's was 66.7%

I love Mile, but they are very different players. We're playing the best football we have under Bruce with Whelan in the team, in my opinion, both in terms of performances and results. We can argue that it is in spite of Whelan, but I don't agree.

Jedinak will have a role to play I'm sure. With Whelan, without Whelan, but never in a 2 man midfield. He's a very specialised player.

I would actually prefer him to Samba in central defence.

Very fair argument, and you are totally right.

I would question is the difference in pass rates down to the players, or how we were playing at the time? Difficult to know untill mile has a run in the team.

You'e definitely correct about the midfield two, but the same goes for Whelan...hes struggled with a two man midfield. Onamah is a god-send for both players.

At the end of the day, it's a nice problem to have both fit and challenging for a place in the team.

I agree with the bit in bold, but Onomah still has bad games where he's pointless (Blues game).  But he definitely adds that bit of dynamism in midfield which GW and CH can't offer.

Just got to iron out his form.

With Jedi?  I'd rather him play in big games where we're going to drop a bit deeper, in the middle of this pitch his mobility is exposed.  As slow as Whelan is, he's still quicker and better with the ball than Jedi is.

A nice option to have though!

Any news on the injury today? What happened?

EDIT: I'll answer my own question :P

Quote

(Bruce) On Mile Jedinak having to come off through injury...

"He's got a shoulder injury – we don't know how serious. We'll find out in the next 24 to 48 hours. We could do with a bit of luck on that front. "

Seemed to be moving his arm to a degree, was still challenging and went up for a corner.

Hopefully not a dislocation as that was a few months when Luke Moore's kept popping out.

He was but you could see he was in some pain.

He was very restricted in what he could do with that arm.
