They should start by only allowing a maximum of 1 and then go from there.

clubs and memberships so if you want a rifle or something special you still can but you have to use it in a safe environment

i understand the "i like guns" argument, if you want to go shoot a AR15 at the range then fill your boots, you dont need it at home though

dont take the guns away just add sensibility as to what they're for and how they're used

I had a thought, that nothings going to change going through the normal channels, so change strategy and go off track. If someone could convince someone from the Parkland shooting, who spoke so well. To form some sort of anti gun  lobby group. I'm sure they would be really well supported with crowd funding. Then apply for a nuclear bomb licence, if not that something really big. Argue from the point of the 2nd Amendment states to protect me from a tyrannical government, but we cant if the government has all the big missiles. Then when they are rejected time time again, take it to the supreme court. And let them argue it out. Does the second amendment mean I can have the necessary tools to turn against a tyrannical government or not. Theres no way a court would allow a civilan to have big missiles. So then people would start a big debate about what it actually means.

One problem with that - the Supreme Court would probably end up allowing everyone to have missiles and nukes! 🙄

Just watched their press conference live streamed. What a country. A series of people try to outdo themselves to see who can appear the saddest until someone starts heckling them, they all break character and return to their normal selves, shouting at the guy, calling him an S.O.B. before he gets escorted out. Then they immediately resume the sad-off.
It seemed for all the world like a bunch of a-holes trying to show the world’s media how compassionate they were to make themselves look good. All about them rather than the victims or their families.

Ted Cruz apparently just wants more ‘education’ and would rather arm teachers and not tighter firearms restrictions (which is just a democrat party ideal and therefore not necessary)

what a douche

Every politician in the US needs to unite over this but let’s face it, too many are too deep in the pockets of the NRA

Its a shitshow

I was listening to U.S. politicians this morning calling for teachers to be armed.

Something we literally went over as an option on VT some time ago, as the blackest humour.

For those who dont live here this is another example of Republican voters and politicians who insist on kids being murdered because of their crazy "beliefs". They really are responsible for everything bad about the USA. Loathsome scumbags.

we all know this country is far from perfect but is is one thing we can justifiably preach about.

I think this country is an absolute cesspit and yet compared to the States it’s a progressive, socialist utopia.

The second amendment is flawed and completely dated. George Washington didn’t write this bill for the america you see today. There was no police and militia. In 1791 it would take on average 30 seconds to fire and reload a musket and a skilled shooter to hit a target. The carnage you can unload with an AK-15 in relatively short time span and the fact you don’t need to be particularly trained at using one - not comparable. Stupid country. Stupid laws.

What I find fascinating is how many gun rights types in the States *genuinely* believe that the right to bear arms is what keeps them free and secure, and that gun control doesn’t work, when there are dozens of free, affluent, safe countries elsewhere in the world that completely contradict this. It shows an incredible degree of insularity and stubbornness. Not sure what you can ever do about it.

Ignorance too.

Arming teachers? Why stop there?

Might as well arm all the kids too, according to Ted Cruz if everyone has a gun no-one gets hurt right?

What a sad indictment of a supposedly great country, that an egotistical piece of shit like Cruz can appear on TV in the wake of a massacre at an infants school suggesting that more guns are the answer.

It’s a freaking brilliant country, in all seriousness. It is, tragically, also a f***ed up society, a failing democracy and an absolute mess.

No doubt

But the older I've got the less Ive wanted to live there, as a kid I'd have loved to have moved to the States, now there's absolutely not a chance I'd do it

Holidays etc no problem, it's way way down the list of places I'd live, their policies on guns and healthcare are so far behind the rest of the modern world it's embarrassing
