weedman
Consistently underachieved as villa manager and fully deserved to be sacked. Problem is they left it too late. We need a miracle to stay up with only 13 games left. Seriously? There's 13 games left and we're in the bottom 3 on goal difference and 2 points away from 15th with potentially 5 winnable games coming up and we can hope for a bit of a 'new manager syndrome' to help us out with a pretty decent squad compared to the teams around us...not exactly walking on water territory just yet
Popular Post Stevo985 Posted February 11, 2015 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted February 11, 2015 I actually don't think it's a very difficult job to keep us up from here. WHich is part of the reason Lambert was so frustrating, because we only needed to be a little bit better to stay up. THe sacking isn't too late. In fact it's just in time.
P3te
Yup, shouldn't be a big ask to keep us up for anyone really. No fancy stuff, play your position, know your role, move off the ball, give options, get it in the box. The things lambert evidently didn't push them to do

villa4europe
within 5 years he'll be celtic manager and rebuild his reputation, no doubt leading some journos to claim it was the fans all along...

It shouldn't be a massive climb.. First couple of games will be there deciding vote for me.

villadude
Just woke up and seen this fantastic news, well chuffed! Even if we do go down, which I don't think will happen, Lambert wouldn't ever be able to get us back up if his life depended on it.
Popular Post alreadyexists Posted February 12, 2015 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted February 12, 2015 Good luck Paul. Is it just me or does it feel like a break up with a girl you're still fond of, but just not in love with anymore? I think it's best we see other people.

Ghost
Phew, decent news to wake up to. Tried his best and brought in decent players but just couldn't make it work on the pitch.

ThunderPower_14
I certainly have no malice towards him but god his sacking was well overdue. Clearly the entire football department had lost confidence and had forgotten how to win. We needed a change to freshen us up.
useless
We can thank him for saving us from relegation twice, turning around the careers of the likes Hutton, Delph, Guzan, others and for leaving us with an half decent squad. You never know he might do well for himself in Germany and when we've been taken over maybe we'll be in a position to bring him back. It's a funny old game. Edit: Actually the last part is perhaps a little far fetched, let's just see what the new guy can do before we think of Lambert returning. briny_ear
My nightmare scenario is Leicester finally get round to sacking Pearson, appoint Lambert and he keeps them up, with Villa filling the 3rd relegation slot in their place.
Danwichmann
Sorry to see you go Paul, but it just wasn't working. Genuinely hope he goes on to well, but the situation here was beyond recovery.
