Stoke appointing him was a real heads gone moment. Incredible he actually got another chance in the premier league after his stint with us.

It was three years after he left us and he'd done average jobs at Blackburn and Wolves.

When he came in Stoke were in bottom 3 but only one point behind 17th. Think he won his first game. His second win was on the last day of the season!

His spell here didn't help but relegating Stoke with likes of Shawcross, Zouma, Shaqiri pretty much the death knell for his managerial career at top end english football.

Sounds like many of those away fans at Norwich are on VT.

He did very well at Norwich.

However sometimes it's a case of manager goes into club at lowest ebb as Norwich pretty much were and gets time to build from very low level, teams starts winning and then they just ride on the momentum.

Very similar to what Nigel Adkins did at Southampton around the same time and he hasn't replicated that since. Going back 25 years and Joe Royle did the same at Man. City.

If you look back at that time considering the meagre resources Chris Hughton would've probably been a better pick following McLeish but we were in a terrible state as a club and just sleep walking to relegation.

I'm not going to lie, I was calling for him too!
