HanoiVillan
Should've been dropped weeks ago, but if he does stay in the side I'll put it down to the ineptitude of our manager rather than speculating over a clause. Well, to be fair, if this mythical clause is actually true, then it also reflects very poorly on the manager, so I don't see the difference. Why? Because he shouldn't have signed a player that he was contractually bound to play come rain or shine, poor form or not. Look, I was excited about Cleverley too, but he had just been a poor performer in a side that finished outside the European places, he was hardly a guaranteed hit. If the contract thing is true - and I've said why I doubt it numerous times in this thread - then yes, it was a poor decision from the manager and I don't see why it's unreasonable to say, in retrospect, he got it wrong. If the contract thing isn't true, then we're just left with the conundrum of why he keeps picking Cleverley even though his post-Christmas form has been atrocious. Brumstopdogs
STAT OF THE DAY: In the 57 hours of football Cleverley has played across last season and this season he has managed 1 goal and 0 assists. That 1 goal was against Aston Villa!
JohnStortford
He's a spineless little coward, seems terrified to make a mistake so instead does nothing and tries to look involved.
Tomaszk
Good stat! I was working at Old Trafford probably just before that 57 hour count began. Cleverley bombed a phenomenal cross as Utd completed a 3-2 comeback v Braga. I think it remains the most impressive thing he has done in football. Biskitt
Too passive for me and doesn't take enough responsibility on the ball. At least Delph, Sanchez and Westwood at least try to get things going at times
Killeen30
Still here Tom? I think it's only a matter of time before Lambert has to drop him, simply because it is obvious how much the fan do not like or rate him as a player.
mjmooney Posted February 7, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted February 7, 2015 I'd far rather have a Sanchez who drops a few clangers simply because he gets stuck in, than a Cleverley who avoids making mistakes by doing nothing. How much does he get paid, again?
omariqy
Ok maybe there is a clause. How is he starting again? Add this to the very long list of why PL should be sacked.

Mantis
Ok maybe there is a clause. How is he starting again? Add this to the very long list of why PL should be sacked. There has to be. I don't rate Lambert at all these days but even he wouldn't play him week in week out unless he had to.
Farlz
I'm actually really annoyed about this now, why is he starting?! Sanchez has 1 bad game and he's dropped, Cleverley is consistently shit and has not once been dropped. Utter joke.
rodders0223
Struggling badly again today. I really feel sorry for him now, clearly lacking any kind of belief or confidence. He should have been taken out the firing line a while ago.
Stevo985 Posted February 7, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted February 7, 2015 He's done ok. He's just a very non descript player. He keeps the ball and passes it 5 yards. It's kind of fine if you're playing a bit of tiki taka, but he's not what we need in general, let alone a game like today. He's never going to do anything today that will win us the game
Zatman
im starting to feel bad for the guy, his confidence seems completely smashed though he did play a nice move with Delph which led to the corner
Dr_Pangloss
A cardboard cut out of him would have been just as effective out there
bobzy
Meh, I thought he did ok today. Played a part in our goal too (1-2 with Delph, deflected shot over for a corner).
ROTTERDAM1982
He was ok, just nowe what we need. PLs subs changed the game today, we lost all momentum when he made them.
DCJonah
I don't see how there could be such a clause. It's ridiculous and how could it be enforced? If lambert drops him what happens? They take him back? Hardly a punishment. Lambert clearly rates him and i don't know why.
