I was regretting it, but after 2 weeks off I think easing back to it with a 2 day week will be nicer than having to go back to a full week on Monday.

I prefer taking Thursday-Tuesday off and having a short work week next week.

I worked most of the Christmas period, exclusively from home.

I forced myself back into the office today. It's dead. But I live half a mile from here, so I have no excuses really.

Work was dead today. Office tomorrow for only the 5th or 6th time since mid-November.

Only problem WFH is that my heating bill must be taking a pounding!

I've got a good mate at work and to put it politely, he is a bit unreconstructed.  He is in trouble for smacking a girl on the arse and I've been actively trying to not get involved, I've hated it when he has done it before and think he should get sacked for it.  It's just a bit of a weird, uncomfortable situation to be in.  I really get on with the girl as well so I'm sort of stuck in the middle.

What a wonderful time of year. Back to work, everyone in the office is as depressed as **** because Christmas is over, the December slow down has finished and work starts to pick up again, and everyone feels like there’s nothing on the immediate horizon that they can look forward to.

Not me though - I’ve got two weeks off at the start of Feb. Kiss my face.

🍻✈️🎉☺️😘

A guy at work pronounces Spiderman and Superman and other such things very weirdly.

I assume everyone would pronounce it with the emphasis on the "man"

Spider-MAN

Super-MAN

This guy says SPIDER-man, but then pronounces the "man" as "mun". Like the way you'd pronounce John Goodman

So he says "Yeah last night I watched spidermun" "oh have you seen supermun?"

Pisses me off

I'm sure Chandler from friends said something along those lines once.

Well, no. Apart from the 'mun' bit, no, the emphasis is always on the first part, not on 'man'! SPIDER man, SUPER man.

Yeah I think you're right. I probably just explained it wrong. Now that I think about it I do the same.

I guess what I really mean is they're emphasised as separate words. Like you've written it, Super Man

He says it all rolled together like it's a surname

supermun

My wife just had a go at me as I bellowed upstairs to her WHAAAAATTTT!!!!!! She called me a deaf word removed. Apparently she was shouting at Popmaster "Sleeper" and not calling out "Peter".  I need to pop my hearing aids in today I think.

One day my dad told me his traffic woes. "Yeah, I was stuck behind a cara (small pause) VAN" he said.

And that's how he pronounces it. So naturally I asked if I was adopted.

My mother in law (a Geordie) used to pronounce it cara-VAN. She also pronounced theatre as 'thee-AYTER' (as did my Irish Dad).

The Irish corner of Sofia (mostly from Cork) pronounce it tear-tur.

From years of listening to the Ricky Gervais Show, it really grated me that Stephen Merchant pronounced "cigarette" as "sig-ret".

Not "sig-ah-ret" or "sig-uh-ret" like normal people. Two syllables. "sig-ret"

Pisses me off
