I see we were bottom of that table as well! We have spent the lowest amount of money of any of the current PL teams in the January transfer windows from 2012 to 2016. We spent 0.1, 2, 0, 3.2 & 0 in each of these windows. So we have spent 5.3m in 5 January transfer windows and have received £3.45m in player sales (0.6, 2.5, 0, 0.35 & 0) giving us a net spend of £1.85m over those 5 windows. I've brought up personal things and shouted them at players taking corners. I've screamed about wives, I've screamed about scandals, I've screamed about court cases, I've screamed about misdemeanours, I've had a go at players for big noses and stupid haircuts, I carry grudges and on one proud occasion at the Hawthorns in the Intertoto I managed to upset former European footballer of the year Jean Pierre Papin enough that he gave me the finger. In the warm up. I'm not quite tamed as yet, but there's a clear line between trying to put someone off their game and celebrating their death I think. I think you're being overly sensitive though myself. I think it depends on your sense of humour? Maybe you had to be there but for the most part it wasn't sang with venom. Football has moved on a lot over the last 30 years, granted. But we still sing about killing city fans should they not surrender. If you heard the full lyrics to Holte Enders in the Sky you'd probably have a heart attack. It's an integral part of the game, fans on the terraces pushing the boundaries of decency. I hope it always remains too. Our support was indeed fantastic last night. Helped by the West Ham fans who were great value as ever. Ahh those magic words.. But you could see 18 months ago, we needed to spend a few quid to not only stand still, but improve on our 16th/17th finishes over the last few seasons. The bucks never came, but our good players went. So you ask yourself, if you don't spend money and finish 17th.. what makes anyone think "We'll be better next season"? We've seen Lambert slowly choking on a budget, when his "big" money signings actually did okay. Who knows, you give him 2/3 £10m players, maybe we could have turned those into £20/£30m players.. It's still profit, plus the money from better league positions, likely better runs in the cups, more bums on seats to watch better players, more merchandise sold, more games on TV.. It all equals MOOLAH. But no, speculation to accumulation never seemed to come. It's gotten to the point (after about October actually) where you think, "we can't actually turn this around now, we're in too deep". We've blamed players individual mistakes, we've blamed managers for bad substitutions, bad starting line ups, bad purchases - but I think now, more than ever it's become abundantly clear that both barrels should be firmly pointed at Lerner. He hasn't killed the club, football will still go on next year, but we've definitely lost the gravy train. 142 years this club has been alive, and an owner who has "owned" it for little more than 7% of that time has bled the life out of it and it's followers - and for that, he should be absolutely ashamed of his actions, his "business plan" and the staff he has placed around him to relinquish any responsibility he once had. Enjoy your $1.5 billion inheritance. I know the supporters who's luxury item is their season ticket probably don't have that many options and can forget about football that easily.
