To my mind, the grassroots and bolder leadership could really make difference. I don't feel quite as hopeless about the midterms as I did a couple months ago, but it's still a big lift. The site (Off Topic at least) is generally pretty left wing and can be a bit of an echo chamber but there's a few people that have posted the odd counter viewpoint (myself included as whilst I'm aware of the issues having grown up in North Devon I'm not completely against holiday/second homes and think they have some benefits) . I agree the off topic is mainly left wing and an echo chamber on certain views as you pointed out one that I was on the wrong side of discussions according to many. I think I might try the test, I guess I’m probably close to centre, maybe slightly left of it based on the conversations I’ve had in off topic over the years. Not sure American Dems being to the right of Tories on certain economic issues is such a new thing, not since 1948 or so, but I can't speak to Tories much.
