Gabby talking about the Xia era - I imagine he didn’t mention his refusal to go out on loan to Reading

Talked about it a while ago proudly on a podcast about RDM "I'll be here longer than you son" or words to that effect.

Villa legend this is by the way

One of the few things he ever got right.

  • 1 month later...

Here he is complaining that his Netflix account has gone up to £10.99 a month.

We paid him roughly 22,747 times that a month for a lot less entertainment - three goals in three years.

We were paying him enough a month to cover his Netflix bill for just under 1,900 years.

I reckon he'll cope.

He will forever be a wasteman. The whole TalkSport stuff has gone to his head. He’s not struggling for money at all.

It's mad that he only scored 76 goals for Villa. Ever.

Really good strikers knock that out in 2 seasons.

Steve Bruce has more career goals than Gabby

I know it's really embarrassing. Also it shows if we actually get a decent striker they jump ship ASAP or after say 3 seasons max

To be fair this is a problem encountered by most clubs our size.

There's only 10 other clubs that have a record PL goalscorer higher than that

Arsenal (Henry)
Blackburn (Shearer)
Chelsea (Lampard)
Leicester (Vardy)
Liverpool (Fowler)
Man City (Aguero)
Man Utd (Rooney)
Newcastle (Shearer)
Southampton (Matt Le Tiss)
Spurs (Kane)

The only clubs there that weren't bigger than us when those records were set you'd say were Southampton and Newcastle. And they're exceptions because one is Le Tiss who was a very rare one club man, and the other was Shearer, in the conversation for greatest PL striker ever.

Even "smaller" clubs on the list like Blackburn and Leicester have records that were at least partly set during title winning periods in that club's history.

So basically, clubs outside the "big clubs" will always struggle to hang on to prolific goalscorers

Have they? I only remember Benteke and Yorke moving on. Angel, Dublin just declined for example

West Ham have Antonio with I think 51 goals

Everton another would expect would have a player on the list
