I don't get this notion you have to be playing top flight football to get into the national team. Southgate has proved you don't need a squad made up of Sky 4 "names" to be successful, Loftus-Cheek isn't even a squad player at Chelsea ffs.

Let's say, for arguments sake, Villa (or any Championship side) decide to go balls-to-the-wall and offer £200m for Harry Kane, is he automatically deemed not good enough to play for, and Captain his country? Bollocks is he.

This idea people need to play Champions league and top flight football is a bullshit myth created by agents and the media to justify a move or appease a fan base.

words removed!

While I agree, you also have to add that you do develop by training and playing against the best players and coaches.

Remaining a big fish in a small pond will harm your development in the long run.

Is a Bag Fish similar to Bag Puss?

So does this mean that Spurs have put in a bid, or is this just Bruce waffle.

He is basically saying, up your bid and he is yours.

If you must say something, what about something like, ``He is our player, and he is going nowhere''.

You know, to maximise the fee if he does go.

This sort of ill thought through, dumb, comment drives me crazy.

Right. So he does that for Villa in the Premier League in the next couple of years. If we dont get there by then, he can go.

Could be wrong but it could have been that Wolves fella. Steve Bull ? If that's what you called him.

Steve Bull, Jay Bothroyd, Jermaine Pennant, Wilfred Zaha..... There's been a few.

Angus Gunn was on standby for this last world cup.

Reading inbetween the lines of what was said during the press conference-

1. We don’t need to sell any player, therefore nobody is actively for sale

2. The current owners have a strong feeling on their valuations for players and if a bid was to come in it would need to be quote, “a premium price that they are satisfied with”.

3. Spurs may or may not have enquiried about Jack at rumoured £15-20m. (This hasn’t been confirmed by anyone as far as I can tell).

4. They’ve been told £35m + or do one.

5. Jack is therefore staying (hopefully... subject to point number 2!).

How can he say he isn't going nowhere? If we are offered 30m the club will accept and I think that's a great deal for us personally

Get real we are not a premier league club we can't say no player is for sale.

It's Steve Bruce though so hardly suprising.

His PR skills are as modern as his footballing tactical nous.

Easy... £40m or FRO!

If you are happy to roll over at £30m Dem that then I am dissapointed.

He is worth more to us than £30m Dem, he is priceless imo.

We are getting real and even though we are not yet a premier league club - we also shouldn't allow ourselves to be bullied by them either and roll over at the first offer.

Means sod all anyway #Jack is staying.
