However, well scrapped and a deserved win. 

Not for the first time, MOTM was between Young and Kamara but the latter was IMMENSE. Shout out for Mings as well.

We do need to learn how to dominate games more.

That's an overreaction.

We were under the cosh for fairly long periods and I can't deny it felt pretty nervy at times, but we found a way and we've been finding a way for a while now under Emery, I don't think that is luck. He's come in mid-season and turned our season around.

Clearly the real deal. Yes, there is work to do and he is doing it. I'm not at all worried. There will be some new players, they will be quality (Guendouzi), and we will continue to make progress. Well played Villa, we dug deep and we are on our way up.

we need better footballers to dominate games more, we have a couple of those type of players, but not enough.

I can see Emery fixing that tho tbh, over jan and the summer.

Understand the reactions, but I feel like people are reacting to the second half as if it was the first. We were definitely the worse team in the first half but in the second we actually created more and more clear cut chances, and overall we were more clinical and better at last-ditch defending so we deserved the win.  

Seen some very harsh comments about Buendia, I thought he was excellent, tigerish throughout with a great work ethic. Kamara was class of course, great control of the ball, and good saves from Martinez. Young was also excellent and would have been my MOTM except he rather spoiled it with whatever that was when he went flying through the air when Gnonto barely touched him.

Speaking of whom, that lad Gnonto looks interesting, the rest of Leeds were pretty poor. They'll always be a challenge because they work so hard but they need some more piano players and fewer piano carriers. I fancied our chances as soon as I saw their back 4, Struijk and Ayling as full backs is a mid-table Championship setup, and good to see Bailey make Struijk look as useless as he is. A standard Bailey performance really, he's an absolute handful but also never seems to have the ball fully under control or to know when to stop the tricks. 

Overall a win, not the most convincing but we edged it, and need to carry this momentum for as long as possible. 

Final word for the debutant too, not much new to say, he looked a bit out of his depth to begin with but you can see he should be an attacking threat at home anyway. Hope you're good mate, because you're first choice for a while now.

briny might give you a different answer, but from my perspective, 2-0 up at home with 20 mins left should be a comfortable position.

But we're Aston Villa, so obviously that's a daft notion and we had to make a bit of a meal of it.

We could well have lost that if not for some surprisingly successful last ditch defending. 

So many of their chances could well have gone in. They didn't.

I think we got lucky.

I put it down to Leeds injuring our team early on, generally being in your face and getting an easy ride from the ref. 

We weren't saints, we time wasted, made tactical fouls, and rode our luck. But in response to dirty Leeds, who cares. It worked. We won.

Martinez's saves were crucial. He was immense. The difference between him and Olsen is ridiculous. We need a really talented young keeper to be Martinez's understudy. 8

 

 

Young was given a torrid time by a fantastic talent in Gnonto. But he stuck at his task and made crucial challenges and clearances. 8

 

Konsa was probably the poorest of our defenders. Struggled. 5

 

Moreno was poor, but the clearance off the line got him ahead of Konsa. 6

 

Kamara is my man of the match. So composed, reads the game so well, top player. Great assist. 9

 

Luiz was run ragged at times, but made crucial toe ins at times. Could have been better in possession. 6

 

Buendia had a terrible first half, but did better I the second defensively, and popped up with the winner.

 

Ramsey had a quiet game, not sharp, kept at it. 6

 

Bailey scored a love finish. Made some good runs but, guilty of trying to beat too many players. Everytime he went past two players, he third to unnecessarily best a third! 7

 

Ings was poor. Ollie is a far superior outlet in this kind of game. 5

 

Very Important win. We have learnt to win ugly.
