Nonsense, Marquee Moon (Best debut album ever?) wasn't released until 1977. The NME had been championing punk and decided that everything that went before it was crap a good two years before Marquee Moon was released

So from that I assume that you were born in the early 1960s, as musical epiphanies usually occur in the early teenage years.

Amazing how some stuff just goes by without one noticing. I recognise and have heard all of the artists in the lists above by yourself, Bicks and Maqroll but that one, totally blank. Googled and still none the wiser.

They were a duo of actors from a TV show doing cover versions.  I think they were the housewives' favourite and kept Wonderwall off number 1 from what I remember, which is all a bit crazy looking back.

Lucky you. I think they were most famous for starting in the TV show Londons burning as (you guessed it), Firemen.

Horny housewives seemed to by their cover versions in the millions. I think their main hit was Unchained Melody.

Amazing isn’t it, 4th biggest selling album of the decade in the UK by a UK artist. 2.3 million UK album sales, another 2 million across europe.

People tend to remember what they are told was cool back at the time. You’ll remember 1981 being Ghost Town by The Specials. Massive massive year defining piece of music. Except of course Shakin Stevens, Bucks Fizz, Adam and the Ants, and Joe Dolce all had bigger selling hits. Ghost Town was out sold by The Birdie Song (The Tweets).

This is a bit off topic, I’ll stop.

Looks like Noel is drawing up his terms to fund his divorce settlement.

Quote

Noel Gallagher says he will "never say never" about an Oasis reunion.

He left the band in August 2009, saying he could no longer work with his younger brother Liam.

While both have gone on to enjoy much success in their own right, questions about a reunion have never gone away.

"You should never say never," Gallagher told BBC Radio Manchester ahead of the release of his latest High Flying Birds album, but "it would have to take an extraordinary set of circumstances."

He added: "That's not to say that those circumstances would never come about."

Won’t quote it here (because F-bombs) but Liam suggesting on Twitter that Noel has been on the phone begging forgiveness. Here it comes.

He might fancy a bit of a blow out as a singleton. World tour, shag a load of 20 somethings one last time.

This going on the pull business doesn't seem to be working out as well as he'd hoped...

Noel Gallagher has said he was left “gobsmacked” recently after a girl asked him what he does for a living.

At one point in the conversation, Gallagher talked about how going out and socialising is still a big part of his life. “Every Thursday you can catch me in the West End – not on stage – usually in the Firehouse, talking nonsense to somebody.

“Somebody asked me in the Firehouse the other night, ‘What do you do?’ And I was like… I didn’t know what to say.”

Gallagher continued: “Well, I didn’t know what to say because I’d never been asked before. I was like, ‘Really?'” He then gestured to his face and sang the chorus to Oasis’ classic hit ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’.

“[The girl said], ‘So what is it you do?’ and I was like, ‘I change people’s lives for the better’. She was like, ‘Oh, what – you’re in the medical profession?’ I was like, ‘Of sorts’.”

The musician went on to say that the interaction left him “genuinely gobsmacked”, adding: “I was like, ‘Look, Google it, love… just put in ‘Noel Gallagher’, ‘High Flying Birds’… owt you want. ‘Oasis”.

“Put in Liam Gallagher, you’ll probably see a picture of me.”

I read an interview with Noel once and he was saying he was at a lunch meeting with some industry executive. Noel was complaining about something and the exec interjects by saying “Do you know who you remind me of?”.

Noel makes several guesses. Dylan? McCartney? Springsteen?

“No. Anastacia.” comes the reply.

Unsurprisingly the meeting doesn’t end well and Noel jumps in a taxi and is greeted with “Alright Liam!” by the driver.
