I just don’t think there is a chance we’d let go of Luiz without a replacement. My views positively or negatively about Luiz aside I just can’t see the club letting him go when we don’t have a player in that position to come in. I don’t agree we can get by. If we had a replacement coming in then yes if we get a great fee for Dougie I assume the club would let him go. I don't think we would, or need to take the risk of finishing the season without Dougie. Even if a replacement / competition was brought in, it would be better to let them settle into the squad first. If Dougie wants to move on, we still have a saleable asset in the summer. Just looking at all the interviews and looking at the player himself, I think he’s probably at a point in his career now where he wants to settle down, enjoy his football and make sure his kids are enjoying their childhood. He gets all of that under Gerrard. He’ll be paid well and he’ll get to settle in England when he is retired. Ha just didn’t strike me as a mercenary type.
