Match Thread: Watford v Villa

I’d bring Bailey or Bidace on front left, push Buendia front and get Carney into midfield in a 4-3-3.

We’re getting done in the middle of the park, Marv and SJM can’t cope on their own.

Ings < Watkins in the loan striker role.

Serious change needed at HT. I'd get both Young and ElGhazi off. Neither have offered a thing.

Give Bailey 45mins, at least his pace would make the full back think. Traore would offer some dribbling and he can pick a pass. Or move Buendia to the wing and bring on Chuk at 10.

Unless there is a change of heart and Industry is placed as high on the agenda as talent/Guile....I think we are.

We do appear to have a soft underbelly. Sometimes you need to win the physical battle on the park.

Utterly incongruous with all that **** lofty talk about aiming for Europe. Play like this again and we'll be swimming with the fishes. So depressing

If we play like this for the first few games, Smith will be signing on.

I'm scared...  This is how we looked our first season back in the Prem.  Clueless defensively, no plan offensively other than kick it into the channel and hope someone makes a run for it.  Need to change the system at halftime or this could get ugly.

Everyone looks a bit rusty don't they?

Lot's of short passes, bad first touches, hospital balls, misunderstandings...

Need to try Bailey or Traore, and we need to get Buendia on the ball. We had a 5 minute spell when we knocked it about one and two touch and looked like we might be starting to click but we need to change things and just try and keep the ball better.

Been really impressed with the physicality and athleticism of Watford's midfield. we really do need to get a move on and sign a physical beast who is capable of driving forward rather than treating the ball like a hot potato or making a misplaced pass. That is they key to starting moves and until a player like that is in the starting line up, we will continue to have these inconsistent midfield performances.

Being Elgahzi off and Ramsey on , we need to stop them playing through us .

How many times has folk on here shown a concern about this.

If we had Sarr playing for us, the opposition would find a way of stopping him.

Hardly surprising given our pre-season, but still disappointing to have it confirmed that the progress has been halted. Watford look a much better team, we look overrun (as usual), in midfield. Young is our best player. Buendia anonymous and the producer of yet another floated set piece cross. Looks almost certain we are going to lose this game unfortunately and we could well struggle for a while.

But that’s the problem, we’ve spent 90 mil to replace one player and not invested at all elsewhere in the team

Yet so many were happy if no more incomings. Baffling.
