Rewatching the game I was very impressed with his tackling and how he (along with others) was much better at cutting out the thru balls, huge improvement.
-
Unfortunately he wears the fouls, gets frustrated and commits a very obvious get-even tackle and gets carded for it.

No problems with his defending, but like I said left side is attacking and he’s been looking Cash-esque, lots of energy but disappointing end product. He was so dangerous last season, one of our main creators.

Twice I remember Moreno was unmarked with a couple in the box and he missed them by a mile. Our left is the attacking side, the LB needs to be able to create.

And he’s so one footed he’s continuously going back inside, missing runs down the line

We have been out scoring teams all year, taking it to the big boys. Then in the last two games we set up and played equal opposition like we were petrified and would be lucky to escape with a draw. What happened?

Afraid I blame Unai, treating them like Barca and playing 5 at the back instead of going for the throat

It’s his non-touches that impress me now, if that makes sense.

I’ve always loved tricky wingers and Leon is doing some insanely skilled moves atm, absolute joy to watch.

How come we can never seem to get Diaby away down the wing on a counter? He’s the quickest on the pitch but we cannot release him.

I made my brother in law start supporting us 10 years ago, as he’s a mad Bayern fan he struggled to gel with the team and would get up me for waking him up at 2am to watch us lose once more. Now he still loves Bayern but admits he enjoys Villa games much more because of the terrible memories of the recent past and the amazing vibe of a sleeping giant waking up.

And vice versa, I remember being very impressed with Barkley in his first few games.

Thought it served us well outlet-wise having Diaby on one side with his pace and Zaniolo on the other with his strength, they looked like having no chance of muscling him off the ball.

To think we could hav had Fresneda for 9 mil

I think SJM was brilliant on the right for us, kept the ball really well and turned into midfield to ping some great passes. Zaniolo is class but right now I see him as the perfect impact player.

Villa player assessments you got humiliatingly wrong ...

I thought we would be f*£n lethal on the counter with Gabby and Andi Weimann -

Not really, I understand players can play different positions but if you want a backup to each spot then we are short. My question is would you get a RB or another CB knowing Konsa can move over if required.
-
So are you saying we are fine with 7 defenders or you think we will play Konsa at RB and get another CB? Or will keep taking players from DM to cover if needed?
-
He was in the top 10 wingers in the top leagues for carries that resulted in a shot or chance created.

Come on boys, we watch the game for enjoyment so forget the inept refs and soak in the feeling that we will soon be a top 6 club and will start getting these call’s ourselves.
-
The most frustrating tonight was Buendia, I like him but what’s the point of patient build up if he’s just gonna push a low percentage pass time after time. It’s obviously an important position for what Unai wants to achieve so a better passer with the ability to ride a challenge is necessary IMO.

Shout out to the Villa Park crowd, got loud when the team needed it and created an amazing atmosphere for an amazing game.
