Curtis Jones is simply not happening. There's no way they sell one of their key young assets to us, and certainly not for 15m.

Would be the equivalent of us selling Ramsey to Brighton. And Jones is better, quite frankly.

People are saying that he'd get in Ramsey and Carney Chukwuemeka's way, but not really because they're more No.8s, whereas Jones who despite having played in Liverpool's central midfield is more of a No.10 that can also play out wide, Liverpool apparently have just been playing him deeper to begin with to help with their tactical discipline and are going to do the same with Elliot but see their long term futures further forward.

He'd be signed more of a Barkley replacement than a No.8.

Jones is nothing like McGInn as a player, if he was to sign for us he'd play in a midfield three with McGInn and Luiz, and he'd be the furthest forward of the three, he can also play wide left as well, central midfield isn't his natural position, he's more like previous players we've been linked to like Smith Rowe and Cantwell than he is McGinn.

All this is pretty pointless anyway as I doubt theres any way Liverpool will sell him let alone for as little as £15m. I do think an attacking midfielder is something we'll look at though after losing Barkley, Grealish that sometimes played there and now Hourihane probably leaving as well, but probably something we will leave until January now and we can afford to do that with the emergence of some of our youngsters.

Maybe mcginn, I love him as much as the next man but he’s limited in certain key aspects of what we need to progress to the top 8

A Liverpool youngster who really only got time because of an injury crisis is better than our teams vice captain. 13 total PL starts. He isn't ready to replace a seasoned PL midfielder. Could probably do with a loan.

Liverpool will want 35-45m for Jones, Villa are just trading, low bids for players that are immediately worth more. Doubt there's even anything in it. For 15 yes, for what they'd want not a chance, much better value out there.

We might as well wait for ESR when Analsnel get relegated.

If it was £15m then I guess there would be a buyback price like we had with Doug.  I've not seen a lot of him but he is very highly rated, even when accounting for the overhype of Liverpool youngsters.  I hope we are at least still looking for someone in midfield.

As long as the buyback is £40m+ then maybe but even then, I hate the idea of a buyback clause.

A lot has been made of a need for a specialist DM. I still think a more progressive player to play in Front of a midfield two is more vital. Buendia can carry some of the burden, but we still seem very meek in the attacking half. Curtis Jones may fit the bill in that regard. I’d still love a player like Kamada for this type of position. We need someone reliable on set pieces with more emphasis there (not to add our Japanese speaking set piece coach 😄). Make it happen!

Curtis Jones is an attacking midfielder, Liverpool are just playing him deeper for their first team as part of his development, they're going to do the same with Elliot, Jones would no more play as a deep midfielder for us than would Elliot if we signed him.

As I say we bid for Smith Rowe for a reason that reason being we wanted an attacking midfielder and one that could also play on the left, that's exactly what Jones is, but with the system Liverpool play with the three strikers and the fullbacks that play virtually as wingers meaning they don't play with attacking midfielders as such, there isn't much scope for them to play Jones in his naturall position.

🏄‍♂️

Right, so what's our strongest team ( With everyone fit ) minus the Red Zoners? ( Don't think Bailey will be travelling for Jamaica but not sure )

                      Steer

Cash       Konsa      Mings     Targett

Traore    McGinn     Ramsey L  Luiz/Nakamba     Anwar/Bailey

                           Ings/Ollie

?

If we have all of those fit, it's not necessarily the end of the world?

I know people are shit scared of Steer starting for us, but if we are honest, when has he actually been " bad " for us?
