I'm genuinely not being critical in saying this - we're just European football fans after all, it's not our problem - but Democrats are going to have to work out a way to at least reduce the Republican margin amongst these voters, which means they're gonna have to find a way to appeal to them, or at least dispirit them from voting. I completely agree with your views on this - Joe Biden is just objectively a deeply moderate politician who is not even close to being a socialist - but somehow they believe it.

I don't know what the answer is. I don't think it's just 'run more centrists' because they've lost all over the map too. It's a hard problem to solve.

they probably need to introduce critical thinking as part of their educational system in the states.

The really depressing thing is how many people are willing to watch a 20 minute Youtube video about Trump led conspiracies, but wont spend 2 minutes on Google confirming it's all bollocks.

you hear what you want to hear

A close friend of mine posted that image of Biden getting 140,000 votes (which was fake) and wouldn't have it when i asked for proof. When I posted the thread debunking it, he kept arguing.

Normal, intelligent guy. Mad.

They weren't the only ones, Trump increased his share of black male voters with college degrees - I think it all comes down to the politics of envy and people aspiring to be better and richer - Trump embodied that. It's why I hope this goes as we think it will and Trump loses, the next Trump will harness the same politics but they won't be as authentic - as much as the Dems have to reinvent.

Biden now has more votes than any presidential candidate in history - imagine how loudly Trump would be telling us that if it were him?

And Trump is currently third in that list and may finish up in second place when this thing is all done.  He almost certainly will be shouting about it as a measuring stick of how popular he is, claiming if the election wasn't rigged he would be the most popular of all time.  70 million people just in teh USA think he is a good leader. 70 million clearings in the woods.

I think what pissed off that group was Biden saying "if you're choosing between me and Trump, then you're not black". Plus his association with the crime bill that I can't remember then name of that was devastating to the black community. Why that shifted them to Trump though, god knows.

Have you ever read our own Transfer rumour threads?  Once people have seen something on social media, its fact regardless of any amount of subsequent evidence to the contrary.

Eugh, I'd struggle to muster any energy to debate someone like that.

Sounds a bit like a PA at a company I used to work at who was a bit thick* and used to come out with vague statements like 'the thing is the media don't tell you about all the good stuff Trump has done'. She could never provide a single example of anything he'd done, good or bad, when asked.

*Not because of this, she just was.

Fair point, although I think people allow themselves to get carried away because of the hope and excitement. It's a bit disturbing if people are that excited when they hear there is a secret paedo ring run by the nations' most powerful people through pizza restaurants.

Guaranteed she'd quoted verbatim what she'd read someone write on Facebook.
