dont_do_it_doug.
Decent player if we can get a tune out of him. Obviously we all hope to see bigger and better, but considering how quickly we got this done it seems like a flyer on a capable squad player.
Lord Willard
Eurgh got to give them 4m. Still 4m and rid of a players wages for someone more useful. Good business. Good squad player for competition and depth. Not on the same level as El Ghazi though.

Popular Post villan-scott Posted May 31, 2019 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted May 31, 2019 Sounds good to me. Smith got the best out of him and he was a player I admired and feared in those hands against Brentford. Looks like smart business.
Popular Post Wes
We've replaced Adomah's bench depth for a player Smith knows well (and has been able to get the best out of before), whilst also offloading a player who wasn't going to get any game time for us in Gardner. Jota will be a good squad player - already accustomed to Smith's tactical and training philosophy and will be good to have on the training pitch when we have a lot of new players coming in who will need to get up to speed fast. I don't believe he's our starting right sided attacker next season. Think that transfer will still come. But as a Squad Player, and as a transaction as a whole, it ticks a lot of boxes. Also, a Spanish speaker in the Senior Squad would certainly help if we wanted to bring in, for instance, a younger native Spanish speaker in to the team at some point down the road... Let's not forget, Spain is where Suso knows best. Wouldn't be too surprised for at least one of the new faces joining us this season to come from there. It would make sense to utilise his connections and knowledge to the fullest. Thumbs up from me if it goes through. Teale's 'tache
Not sure how I feel about this, if it's a straight swap then we can't really lose and it's a bit of a free hit. Adding 4m, although it's not a lot these days makes it a bit more of a risk if we can't get him playing well. We do need bodies though. I do think our style of football will suit him more than SHA clogging.

AlwaysAVFC
Mixed feelings from both sets of fans on the deal. Although with the extra £4m it probably swings it towards blues thinking they've got the best deal. I think it could be good for us, we need a squad and not everyone is going to be bought as a first name on the team sheet. He's been a bit of a flop at blues but he looked like a player that knew he cocked up going there, maybe highlights a bad attitude but you can hardly blame him for that it's true. He played well under Smith so hopefully he'll become a useful player for us.

VillaAlex
Didn't do too bad in the assist charts for an apparently 'shit' player.
wazzap24 Posted May 31, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted May 31, 2019 WM saying it’s more like £2/3m + Gardner. Decent deal for me. We need 10/12 players and we need a squad. We won’t be able to spend £15-20m on every new player and deals like this will hopefully free up ‘big money’ for a couple of stars here and there. He’s a good player, one of those I think is more suited to the Prem than the Championship imo. Smith knows him, so does Suso - sounds good all round to me.

Demitri_C
Must remember jotas been. Woeful Blose side that ply super negative football. Jota looked unbelievable at brentford. Maybe at a thriving attacking side like us he will do better. But 4m really is peanuts at this level. Jota was being linked with some major premier league sides at one point. I dobt care of he was at the sty as long as he performs here. Getting rid of gardner is great news regardless
Brentfordnylons Posted May 31, 2019 Visiting Supporter Share Posted May 31, 2019 Surprised at Dean going for Jota great player for us on his day badly damaged at his time at hoof ball Birmingham City where he played more games than he did for us.Scored an impressive 23 goals for us and a poor 8 for them if Dean can get a tune out of him it’s great business. very predictable and 90% all left foot but good option from the bench.
Popular Post useless
Me an intellectual: if he signs, as it stands he'll arguably be our best player outside of McGinn and Grealish. But hopefully we'll be signing some better as well. 3
