Davkaus
There aren't billionaires that aren't words removed, tbh. They just might not be as big a bunch of words removed as some of the other PL owners. Nobody deserves to be that rich. 3

Over there the owners don't really spend much personal wealth to make a team successful. It's just not the same as football here Maybe so, but you’re talking about the poor relation [/sarc] in our owning partnership. In Arab societies ‘face’ is everything. Sawiris is doing this because he can. He’s bought a team in the PL and is competing against the Abu Dhabi royal family, which brings Egyptian national honour into the equation - in his mind. You might find that preposterous, but the only thing Arabs hate more than outsiders is each other. He’s in it to win it, imo. Popular Post JAMAICAN-VILLAN
Rwanda: Why Aston Villa and Milwaukee Bucks Owner Invested in BAL - allAfrica.com Full article in the link for anyone interested, I just quoted a few paragraphs. Our guys have investments in Sports everywhere! Quote Among the key financiers of the recently concluded Basketball Africa League is New Fortress Energy, a firm involved in the development, financing, and construction of energy infrastructure assets. The firm was founded by Wes Edens, who is also the owner for popular football club Aston Villa as well as Milwaukee Bucks, an American basketball team competing in the NBA. The New Times' Collins Mwai spoke to Edens on investments in BAL, trajectory of the league as well as other opportunities in the emerging league. What drew your interest in BAL considering that it was the inaugural season with not much prelude? While there was no specific experience in NBA Basketball Africa League, there are lots other experiences to base on such as global athletes coming from Africa playing on stages across the world. I think it is a very natural step to establish a basketball league here given the incredible abundance of athletic talent. What are your projections for BAL's growth in coming years? First and foremost it needs to be a competitive league. It is not an attempt to further distribute NBA products but rather create a league itself. There are basketball leagues that exist in these countries. The relationship between those leagues and this league is something that is yet to be defined. The first step is to establish this league, there are 12 different countries which will lead a competitive framework to emerge. Aston Villa FC, Milwaukee Bucks what drives your interests in sports investments? I am a sports nerd, I am still active in various activities. I think sports investment is the perfect marriage with business opportunities. I do not collect art, I do not do other activities. This is what I love and these are serious business investments. Given your experience in the sector, what do you think is needed for the BAL to reach its goal of being a top basketball league in the years to come? When you look at sports investments, if your first 10 questions are not about media, media rights, media values and TV contracting, then you are not asking the right questions. Media value is what drives the value of sport. The hallmark of a productive BAL would be a productive media presence for people to care about it, watch it and follow it. As the media profile develops, so will the league. And not only the African media, but the global media as people recognize the quality of athletes in the league. The likes of Spurs, Leicester, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City aren't suddnly going away just because we've got good owners. Would take a shit ton of money to even get close to them.

I'm very enthusiastic because of how they've done it. Reports will say they've spent £200million. They haven't, they've invested in assets which increase in value. They've actually made money. The asset value of every player (except Sammatta and kallinic) has improved. Other outlays are easily covered by the value of the club probably 4/5x increasing. If they sold up tomorrow they would make money. The realism comes in, where in the longer term we will sell 1 star asset per season (Grealish, mings) before their value declines (27,28), to be replaced by a youth team or younger cheaper purchase. Bit like the Leicester model.
nepal_villan
More than the playing gap, I keep wondering how we will bridge the revenue gap with the six highest revenue producing team. Until that happens we will always need to punch above our weight to compete for Europe and trophies.

E.G JK Rowling has a knack for writing good books...........Her readers have made her Rich. I have no doubt, she never set our expecting that, Its bestowed upon you for being good at what you do.....Jack is rich, for obvious reasons. However,Criminal activity is not to be confused, with that reasoning. There are good and bad, amongst Rich folk, just like there are amongst poor folk. back on track......I am personally hugely grateful to our owners, who are proving to be probably the best we ever had.....I do not begrudge them their wealth, I just applaud their Nous to invest very well. Just remember, plenty of decent well intended folk, who have invested unwisely and have subsequently fell victim to their unfortunate fate. The Rich, should not be a target for the envious, otherwise you are no better that your perception of them. Edited June 4, 2021 by TRO 4

There's being rich and then there's being a billionaire. A billion dollars is an unfathomable amount of money and nobody should have that much. If you'd earned £700 an hour, every single hour of every single day since Aston Villa was founded in March 1874, you wouldn't be worth a billion pounds. JK Rowling didn't get paid a billion pounds to write books, she became a billionaire by turning her creation into a licencing juggernaut. When people are buying their Harry Potter dressing gowns, doormats and iphone covers, workers at the other end are not getting paid what they're worth so Rowling and her business partners can become insanely rich. You can't earn a billion pounds. A billionaire doesn't work 20,000 times harder than someone worth £50,000. You can only get it by exploiting the work done by others, who are paid less than they should be to line your pockets. For one person to have that much wealth in a world where so many people live in poverty is outrageously immoral. It's not about jealousy. As a supporter of Aston Villa i'm glad we have the billionaires we do, because having a billionaire owner is the only way to be competitive, but football would be better without billionaires, just like every other aspect of life would. 6 1 1

Only way is CL tv money for a few years, doing that without having a totally unsustainable wage bill if you don't get in for a few years once you get there is the really hard bit I would say. I don't think it's impossible if you have outstanding coaching and recruitment but I can name the regular CL qualifiers without a mahoosive wage bill on the fingers of one tit.
