Almost certainly we've got the new bloke signed sealed and waiting , probably been on standby for some time and we are  just doing the respectful thing like not moving in your new girlfriend whilst the old one is still upstairs packing her bags

just surprised nothing has leaked yet

Hope you are right.  Now the dust has settled on last nights news Id much prefer this to the alternative.

Even I wouldn't wish Allardyce on you.

What are you after? Someone who can get you promoted this season so FFP is a non issue?

Or someone to give you a style but might take 2 or 3 years to get there, maybe utilising more of the youth in your ranks to keep costs down?

I don't think the manager who ticks both boxes is out there.

I don't expect any announcement before Saturdays game.

Agreed. It's probably wise to give the gig to Kmac while Chester is suspended to at leat ensure the new guy has a fighting chance in his first game.

The Fonseca who wasn't interested in the Everton job is going to walk away from a Champion's League campaign to try to get promotion from the second tier? Is he ****.

And I thought Rodgers was unrealistic.

Aston Villa are eyeing Paulo Fonseca as their next boss.

The Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes has links to the managerial target.

Mendes will play a part in assisting Villa’s search and is sure to put forward a number of potential candidates .

Fonsec a is currently at Shakhtar Donetsk.

He was linked with a move to Everton in the summer before Marco Silva took over.

Not many people had known if Fonseca outside of the Premier League until he was all of a sudden a big target for Everton when they sakced Ronald Koeman last season and now, the Portuguese boss is hot property and expected to leave Shakhtar Donetsk sooner rather than later.

Football London reports Fonseca was a central defender but didn't have the most distinguished of careers as he bounced around between clubs before retiring in 2005. Fonseca, who was born in Mozambique, played pro for 14 years before he called it at day with second tier side Estrela Amadora.

Fonseca went straight into coaching as soon as he hung up his boots with the Estrela Amadora and plied his trade with the lesser lights in Portugal before he got his big break in 2013 at Porto.

Before that, he managed at almost unknown sides such as 1 Dezembro, Odivelas, Pinhalnovense, Aves and Pacos Ferreira.

It was with Pacos Ferreira that he started to make a name for himself though as he steered them to third spot in the Portuguese top flight to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history. He didn't get to lead them in the competition though as giants Porto snapped him up on a two-year deal in 2013.

He'd only last a year at the Estadio Dragao though after he was sacked in March 2014 as Porto had slipped nine points off leaders Benfica in the table. He picked up two further top flight jobs though with former club Pacos and then, Braga.

He led Braga to fourth in the league in 2016 and also won the domestic cup competition for just the second time in the club's history before he moved out of the country for the first time ever.

Shakhtar appointed Fonseca on a two-year deal to replace the legendary Mircea Lucescu. Fonseca won the Ukrainian title twice in his two seasons in charge, winning the double in 2016/17 and reached the knockout stages of the Champions League season, beating Manchester City 2-1 along the way.

When asked about a move to England, the manager has previously said: ""I have this dream and I believe this can happen. I believe a lot this can happen. If it’s soon or not, I have this dream.

"I have a big, big passion about the game and the atmosphere in England is amazing. I hope one day to live it. It’s the biggest league in the world. For any coach, to work in England can be amazing. You have the best coaches and the best players."

BirminghamLive understands that the 45-year-old is under consideration as Villa outline their ambitions for a high-profile appointment as their next boss.

Villa want a new man in place before the home game with Swansea on October 20 and will use the forthcoming international break to focus on the search.

It's understood that the pursuit of a new sporting director is also at the finalising stage with Villa hoping to land their man in the next week.

And another separate appointment has also been lined up by the club as the new owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens continue to build a support network at the club.

Mellberg for me.

He would bring exactly what we're lacking, passion.

We already have the squad in place for this season, just need someone to get them firing properly.

Appreciate he lacks experience but as we know, experience can be overrated.

Didn't Paulo Fonseca sign an £8million pound a year 2 year contract with no release clause in the summer?

So you'd have to buy out his contract.

Not sure on Mellberg. For sure, he had passion as a player.....

... but as a manager, he needs to get that from others. That's very different.

With our current defence he might have to start himself ;)

I love Melberg and if he came and pulled it off (innuendo alert!), it would be fantastic.

I read he was having a gap year and I don’t really know how I feel about that. Very low pressure in the Scandinavian leagues, then a year off, could he handle the pressure and intensity here?

Risky, heart says yes, head says a reluctant no.

I'd say that very much depends on what club you are managing at.

Unless you are talking about the weather?

So I've noticed the inevitable media hit job has begun , and we are the "bad guys".

What is frustrating is the fact that one of the problems is that we have always been too nice ffs!

Do other clubs get the stick we do?

As with a section of fans, I feel a load of people have lost sight of the bigger picture and are just angry because they think Bruce is a "nice man", "Grace personified".

FFS.
