Yes, that country with literally decades of nutters showing their rage with high powered weaponry, killing literally thousands over the years, that has multiple examples a week, that has this kinda thing happen so often they've actually coined phrases because of it ('going postal' coming from the post office shootings of the 80s), that has had so many of these incidents recently you'd run out of fingers before you ran out of incidents, definitely has to be a crazed Muslim.

The point is that the terrorists have got really cunning, now - integrating into mainstream US society, so that now it's almost impossible to tell whether you're under terrorist attack, or whether it's OK, it's just a run of the mill, normal everyday, gun murdering spree.

Looks like I was wrong. Maybe I should cut those isis dudes a bit of slack. Maybe next time I should wait before jumping to conclusions.

Not sure if really ignorant or trolling.

Statistics show that white people are significantly more likely to own firearms, or have access to them. In fact, the statistic I was wrong about is generational change - I thought I remembered seeing fewer young people interested in or with access to firearms, but it seems I was wrong:

(Obviously, my assumption here is that less access to guns equals fewer mass killings. I know some people dispute that, but I think they're wrong)

Interesting stats but would almost certainly underestimate ownership (i.e. illegal ownership).

Also should be noted that every time there's a mass shooting widely reported, gun sales increase.

I think if I moved to America I'd buy a small gun, not sure why as it's probably a very bad idea.

So apparently the guy is a member of loads of pro-Clinton and Sanders groups and Anti-Trump groups on Facebook. Doesn't really mean much thou.

And some Australian Antifa/AFA group has claimed responsibility saying one of their Vegas comrades has done it.

Well, statistically it's eight times more likely to be used by you on a family member, or a family member on you, than in 'self-defence'.

So yes, I'd say it's a bad idea.

That is certainly the angle the Breitbart crowd are pushing, seemingly without any evidence other than 'only a left wing supporter would shoot up a country music festival'.

Supposedly he owns a home in Melbourne.

Can't find the Facebook side, might be closed. Was on another forum.

Everything is probably BS anyway.

I probably would as well, but for sport rather than any illusions of self defence. Shooting targets is fun.

Where I suspect that we both differ from half of America is that we wouldn't be outraged if our guns were banned to try to combat the very serious massacre problem that they have.

There is so much bullcrap floating around social media, unless it is reported by a serious news organisation take it with massive pinch of salt.  There were a bunch of right wing sites that named the killer as Geary Danley and a load of the alt-left anti-Trump extremist stuff came from there.  None of that was true.

A history of the fake news that has already been spread is being compiled here:

Journalists occasionally contact this page looking for answers and leave dissatisfied to rake their muck from danker sources, like the very-obviously-fake and thoroughly-debunked "Melbourne Antifa" Facebook page, from which the sensational image and official-sounding Antifa quote in this article originates.

A note to journos, if any of you read our posts in the gaps between flare-ups in the news cycle: MELBOURNE ANTIFA IS FAKE. It is run as a honeypot to catch leftists and skew the media image of antifascism from an alt-right perspective. They're trolls, and you've been got. Grow a damn clue.

People go crazy everywhere all the time. But when they do lose their minds anywhere else they don't have easy access to high powered machine guns like in the USA.

Compare this to the Jo Cox killing. Some nutter lost his mind and killed 1 MP. The same thing happens in America and hundreds die.

Coincidentally I was only watching this the other day.

As I said probably all BS.

On another note apparently some woman was escorted from the area 45 minutes before the shooting yelling you're all going to die tonight.

White guys can be muslims too :)

Exactly :D

Not only that, but 25% of African Americans are Muslim too. The only reason we haven't really seen any white or black Muslim terrorist attacks is because they (reverts) are usually the most zealous ones and the ones who go to fight on the front lines in Syria etc, mostly as cannon fodder.
