Daweii
1 minute ago, Genie said: Jesus Christ, how many rounds did he he off??? Lots. He apparently had 10 guns in his hotel room. Assuming all of them were fully automatic rifles with 30 round magazines he would/could have fired off at least 300 rounds, though that of course is assuming he didn't have back up ammunition for those weapons. We're looking at maybe 300-500 rounds fired off with most likely hitting their target, but we also can't rule out any of these injuries being stampede injuries which is often the case in large gatherings like this.

He got more passionate and riled up defending Nazis than this ffs I don't think he mentioned guns once, but God and praying at least 10 times. I'm not sure why I'm shocked, but it was really soulless.
peterms
Jason Burke describes how Isis claims of responsibility have changed over the last year or so, here. Quote The Isis claim of responsibility for Las Vegas shooting appears to have been first published on Amaq news agency, an ISIS communication channel which has seen many previous such statements. We need to be very prudent assessing this one. The profile of the attacker alone urges extreme caution, and US officials have already said they have no evidence of any link to the group. Until around a year ago, Isis claims tended to be reliable. The group used carefully calibrated wording to indicate its degree of involvement of the group, and, if there was some exaggeration, there was limited outright fabrication. The group often provided proof of its involvement through videos recorded by attackers before an incident. Isis also started quoting “security sources”, which are thought by security officials to be close friends or relatives, contacted by the group, who confirmed an individual’s motivation and loyalties. Sometimes of these appear to have been “interviewed” by Isis after an attack to back up its claim. But in recent months Isis, facing military defeat and the loss of territories, have repeatedly made claims which have been shown to utterly unjustified. Isis claimed a role in the Westminster attacks in March – and an exhaustive investigation found no link. The group claimed a shooting in a Philippines casino in June, where the attacker was an gambler with large debts and a drinking problem. There are many other examples. This claim today describes the shooter in Las Vegas as a “soldier” of the Isis, who converted to Islam several months ago. This is theoretically possible of course but seems far fetched, not least because he committed suicide. Islamic militant groups launch “fedayeen” actions in which death is a near certainty, thus becoming “martyrs”, but they do not ever take their own lives in this way, which is seen as a terrible sin.

(or get a room on the other side of the hotel minus the small arsenal of weapons). Surely if his aim was to kill he would have done it in the middle of the concert as it would have been busier ? Who knows, he had 10 rifles in his room, for all we know he hated the last song as it reminded him of his mom or he was trying to get to sleep. Nothing would surprise me with this guy or the gun owners in that country. If he was just angry because he couldn't sleep, then I'd of hated to see him really pissed off Never been in trouble in his life with the police or anything and not involved in anything weird. His brother had a SMS from him asking about his mom. Super odd as he is seemingly so normal which is the nightmare scenario for the US. Any word removed with a gun can copy this guy in a country with at least a few high buildings here and there. He has a target for deaths and injured now, that's a horrible prediction but how easy would it be to do? It could actually be anything with this lunatic by the sounds of it which is worse. That said, the number of pro-gun residents over there is staggering. It's an intractable problem. There's actually a bill right now trying to make silencers legal, so that gives you some context as to how far away we are from solving it. The same hand wringing will go on, the usual talking heads and empty suits will make the same pronouncements and nothing will change.

DCJonah
Got to be right up there with the worst civilized countries in the world. Used to be obsessed with the place when younger, always loved the idea of moving there and travelled all over. But the place is a mess in so many ways and gun crime is just one small part. Shame as some of the most genuinely nicest people I've ever met are from there. Shame there's not enough of them to stand up to the **** lunatics that run the place
Daweii
1 minute ago, StefanAVFC said: Why the hell do silencers need to be legal? **** this planet The only ones lobbying for it are those die hard home defence people. Yes suppressors do help in a close quarters situation as the noise and flash of the gun (unsuppressed) creates a flash bang type effect which is undesirable, but guns are not defence weapons they are assault weapons so suppressors shouldn't be legal. The only people that need suppressors for certain engagements are law enforcement and the military.

Also if you want a good nights sleep and the kids want to keep playing with their guns, you can have a sort of watershed around say 8pm all weapons in the house have to be silenced or it's on the naughty step. Just remember to tell the police that they just need to pick up the body so don't need to turn the sirens on. Oh and don't forget to not be black if you call the police.
