I know it's off now, but

I too am a bit dubious of this Rhodes deal......and would he suffice.

Mourinho made the point not long ago about strikers that rely solely on service and others that to a degree make their own.....He was saying the difference in value is significant and he looks for the ones who can create their own.

i know he is in a different league to us, but I get his point.

in general every striker needs service, but some are just completely redundant without it and we have 2 perfect examples at our club ....Kodjia and McCormack.

I agree with what your saying, however I think to a point Kodjia does create some of his own chances and has done well saying the lack of service he has had.

Hopefully with a some creativity in midfield we will start to see more chances and goals from the forwards with midfielders chipping in with a couple. After all it's something that we have lacked since players like Barry, young, downing and Milner left

I'm very pleased we've decided not to spend 12m on Jordan Rhodes.

Me too. £9m would be the max but looks like we won't get him for that either.

Got to be some other strikers we can pickup around the £10m-£12m mark.

Would Omar Bogle of Grimsby be worth a £2mil punt? Local lad well Sandwell and banged them in non-league for Solihull Moors.

Has 18 goals already this season for Grimsby and only 24 years old. They have turned down £1.5mil bids from few championship clubs

Yes, purely for the puns.

We need a right back, I think the additional midfielders being more dynamic, actually showing for the ball, will  give the likes of McCormack  a better  chance of scoring. Green looks like he can play on the left, he looks confident and made some purposeful runs. RIGHT BACK and we will start to get results and build a team to compete , especially next season . Well done Bruce and the Dr

A side of:

                 Johnstone

New RB  Chester  Baker  Amavi

                    Jedinak

Adomah    Landsbury   Grealish

            Kodjia        Ayew

isn't perfect but it's a damn sight stronger than we were lining up at the start of August, and way better than last years side... baby steps are important I suppose when you consider the monumental balls up of last season. It's only a few short months since we scored 18pts in a whole season.

This to me is utterly staggering that either of these players individually either match or better our entire midfield added together.

Signing them both would totally transform our midfield beyond all recognition. Those stats for Hourihane particularly show how important a signing he would be for us.

With 14 assists between them surely even one more of our strikers might get a couple.

Obviously nothing ever transmits exactly like you hope but surely,  surely they can't both turn up here and be failures with those stats?

The stat that gets me is tackles. Both higher than our main defensive mid and on top of that they have excellent stats going forward.

I think we're going to improve massively once these two settle in.
