Hopefully with a some creativity in midfield we will start to see more chances and goals from the forwards with midfielders chipping in with a couple. After all it's something that we have lacked since players like Barry, young, downing and Milner left Barry, Young, Downing and Milner, such hedonistic days!

Signing them both would totally transform our midfield beyond all recognition. Those stats for Hourihane particularly show how important a signing he would be for us. With 14 assists between them surely even one more of our strikers might get a couple. Obviously nothing ever transmits exactly like you hope but surely, surely they can't both turn up here and be failures with those stats? I also love how Jedinak gets slated for being shit on the ball and he completes TWICE as many passes at a comparable success rate to both Westwood and Gardner. He won't be leaving Brighton any time soon, already said he wants to stay at Brighton as the club feels like family. That said, sure Delph alluded to something similar.

Better position yes, but let's not be too negative about ourselves. This is the best I've felt about Villa in several years, and I believe that our Chairman is determined to see us become a success.

We are a mid table Championship Club spunking money away on mediocre players. Not that exciting is it? Brighton have a great new Stadium and the city on the whole is on the way up. Like Birmingham the city itself, we are stuck in the 80's. Funny how it works with the whole current culture of the city thing mirroring the football club. There does seem to be some correlation...Leicester/King Richard another example. Edited January 20, 2017 by NottingVilla

Seriously, when were you last in Birmingham? The amount of regeneration is staggering. If the 80's me were to walk through Brum 2 years from now I would probably have no idea where I was.
NottingVilla
Maybe being in the 80's isn't the right term but being left behind. As someone who doesn't live in the city, Manchester is really seen as the second biggest city and Birmingham is sneered at. 'Has been' sadly like the Villa

It's still a shitty second rate imitation which is the current flavour of the month. Manchester bitches its second like a petulant child whines. Brighton hangs onto the coat tails of London. London and this is the crux of it all. London centric media constantly tell the world Brum is shit without any of them ever setting foot here. Meanwhile Brum the second city ploughs on reinventing itself without national help or goodwill. We're not northern and we're not southern so outside of here a bit meh for the rest of the country. But we're plucky, we do it ourselves and are 100% on the up compared to most of the country. Similarly Villa don't have the luxury of having it all on a plate simply because we're London, and don't have the trendy Manc profile, but we ARE on the rise and personally I think the future looks rosy. We've been down on our luck but Tony sees the potential and is willing to invest. We will rise same as the city. Where I live, London, Birmingham is seen as a bit of a treasure by anyone well travelled. Which means most people who live here. People like Birmingham. I like Birmingham.
