"I like Jedinak and hope he'll do well, but £4m could be a waste." aston villa fans give their opinion on impending arrival

i would say they've become a shambles but lets be honest they've always been bad...seem to be getting worse though

Well here's a quite the rag fail won't use, jedinak won't be the most expensive or the most high profile signing we will make this summer. He can't be described as a marquee signing , as we've yet to make that one , but he will prove to be the most important signing we make

I would be so pleased if we goopoo:ed Jedinak tomorrow! He is precisely the midfield general we need and it would be some good invested 4m£. I'm also really glad that we have moved on from the corporate thinking policy of buying young players with potential high sell on value and now actually focus on what the team needs. Come on - get it done!

Jedinak would be a great signing for us. He'd be the icing on the cake when it comes to the mentality shift. Him and Elphick won't take any passengers lightly this season! Love this signing, gives us more steel in midfield and has shown he is premier league quality, let alone championship. £4m is absolutely nothing this transfer window, and even if he's good for one season, if he gets us back up it'll be worth the investment.

Goodbye Jedi

It has been reported in the national press that former Crystal Palace captain, Mile Jedinak is signing for Aston Villa for first team football.

Wanting to leave the club in order to play first team football at his age is quite understandable and I don’t begrudge Jedinak leaving for those reasons.

While Jedinak is not the most gifted midfielder you will see he is good and effective at what he does, to break up the opposing teams attacks.

He is a tough tackling midfielder who sometimes over steps the mark and after losing the Crystal Palace captaincy in the summer a move was highly likely to happen.

It should be noted that Jedinak took losing the captaincy with dignity and pledged to give his all for Crystal Palace and while, like Yannick Bolasie, he did not ask for a transfer the club decided to accept a £4m bid from Aston Villa.

It was further reported that Jedinak feels that he and several other fan favourites, including Julian keeper Speroni, have been poorly treated by Pardew during the last 12 months and their relationship soured.

With this in mind it is even more impressive how Jedinak played in the 2nd half of last season, becoming the teams linchpin after being discarded for the first half.

Jedinak is a firm firm fans favourite and showed his appreciation on Saturday when, after the final whistle, he went to all 4 sides of the ground to give his thanks for the support he has enjoyed in his time at Selhurst Park.

Before leaving the pitch he threw his shirt into the Holmesdale end after giving a typical Jedinak performance in a close game where we ultimately lost 0-1 to West Brom.

In my opinion, in complete contrast to the Bolasie situation, I would give Jedi a warm welcome if he every come back to play at Selhurst Park because, even though I have been critical of him as a player.

Jedinak has been everything a leader and captain should be while at the same time conducting himself in the right manner when not being picked and in the process of leaving the club.

In public at least because we’ll never know what happens behind the scenes and with the apparent disharmony behind the scenes at Selhurst Park you wonder if it is linked to our second half of the season collapse?

I have many happy memories but perhaps my favourite is when Jedi came up against Patrick Bamford when he returned to Selhurst with Norwich.

A classic case of boy verses man!

thanks for that @Gary Thomas sounds like another strong leader we desperately need

Yes he sounds like the consummate professional and just what we need. The total opposite of some of the dick strokers that were responsible for last season.

Feeling really positive about this season once this deal's completed.

Villa's Lyden welcomes Jedinak arrival

Mile Jedinak’s imminent $7.7 million move from Crystal Palace to Aston Villa will give the relegated club “a massive boost”, according to the club’s other Aussie expat, Jordan Lyden.

By Dave Lewis

The midfielder, who made four senior appearances last season as Villa dropped into the Championship after a disastrous campaign, sees the signing of the Australia captain as a major coup for Villa and new coach Roberto di Matteo.

The Aussie duo – who had never crossed paths before – met briefly at the club's Bodymoor Heath training ground as Jedinak underwent his medical on Monday prior to Lyden skippering Villa's Under-21s in his first game of the season after an injury lay-off.

The only other possible hurdle are visa issues, though Villa don’t expect any hiccups on that front with new Chinese owner Tony Xia and di Matteo viewing Jedinak as a catalyst to drive the club’s promotion push.

“We had a chat and Mile seems like a terrific guy and to have a player of his calibre and quality is a massive boost for us, because the aim is to go straight back up and he can certainly help us do that," said Lyden.

“He’s a leader, as you saw during all those years at Crystal Palace when he captained the side, and he is so strong and dominant in midfield that I am sure he'll do a great job for us if it all goes through.

“If I am lucky enough to get to play alongside him, he’d be a fantastic player to learn off and observe because he’s got so much know-how and experience at the top level.”

Jedinak, who captained the Eagles to last season’s 2-1 FA Cup final loss against Manchester United, made 165 appearances during his five years at Selhurst Park.

He is no stranger to the Championship, having spent his first two seasons with the south London club in the second tier but when he was relieved of the captaincy before the start of the season in favour of Scott Dann it was a sign that coach Alan Pardew saw him as expendable in his future plans.

Palace's loss is Villa’s gain in Lyden’s view, with the 20 year-old saying: “Mile led Palace to promotion (in 2012-2013), so he’s been there and done it all before, and he knows what it takes to be successful in this division.

“There’s a lot of optimism around the squad after beating Rotherham (3-0) at the weekend, and we feel we can go on from here.”

Perth-born Lyden, one Villa's brightest young prospects, has already met with di Matteo, who has assured him he wants him in and around the first team squad again this year in what could be a breakthrough season for the youngster.

We have to wait until we compete all the working visa approval process. It's life...
Stew bow @Stewbow1
@Dr_TonyXia are we announcing our new signing after tonight's match against Huddersfield town? Half time would be better surely?

Subtle again from our owner!
Sure the working visa could apply to anyone without EU nationality, but...
