Popular Post markavfc40
I personally wouldn't take the Wyness line that no matter what happens this season Bruce will be here next season as gospel. If we were to be relegated there is not a cat in hells chance that Bruce stays. I actually don't think Wyness answered the question thinking for a second that we will be relegated and rightly so because we won't be. That then means that we start planning for next season now. Let everyone at the club know, from players to fans, the current manager will be retained. It gives us one thing we haven't had in years and that is stability. You can't have stability for stability sake of course. You have to believe in the manager that he can steady the ship and turn it around. Those above the manager it seems believe in Bruce. Not based on the last 2 months of results on the pitch but based on what they see that we don't behind the scenes, based on how Bruce is handling the current situation and the vibes he is giving off, based on the knowledge of what he inherited and based on the knowledge of what he has done in his twenty odd years as a manager. I personally think Bruce will turn this around. I get that some don't and want him out now and can't really argue with that based on results as I wanted Di Matteo out after a win less run of 10 games. Bruce for me though is a far better manager than RDM certainly in terms of what we need here. I'd be confident that had Bruce been employed when RDM was and had a full pre season we'd be in a far better position than we are now. I think he has been fighting against the tide since he arrived. He inherited a squad on a dire run lacking confidence and completely unbalanced, he got a response from them and a bounce but whilst results were good performances were never convincing. He has overhauled the squad again I think far more than he perhaps would have liked but players became available now and he/the club took the opportunity to bring them in and move others out. It means though we are trying to integrate half a dozen players and mould a team whilst playing competitive games. I maintain what I thought at the end of January. That on paper this is as good a squad of players as pretty much any in the division. It is a group of individuals though and not a team. That is what happens when you see something like 34 ins/outs over an eight month period and see two managers and numerous coaching staff in the same time. To get them to gel into a team Wyness is right that will take time and require stability and trusting in the man who identified weaknesses in the make up of the squad and addressed them, trusting in the man who despite a poor run is such a strong character that he is totally unflinching in his belief he we will turn this around, trusting in the man with an excellent and extensive track record, including recent, at this level, seems a good man to back when you desperately need some stability. DCJonah
If they stick with Bruce and next season doesn't result in promotion, then no excuses. All failures. I then dread to think how long it will take if we fail next season.

TRO
Lets do it in baby steps..... Get the individual players winning their battles get the basics right lets start linking our play lets start passing and moving Lets start winning matches regularly when we can do all that and much more......we can rightfully think about promotion.......until we can, promotion is just a pipedream.
TRO
Something quite disturbing was said to me yesterday. Speaking to someone who is well versed in the corridors at VP and knows all the movers and shakers.....said to me " This place has got very poisonous, so many back stabbers everywhere" I said "I thought all that had gone" ...He said " Oh No" Now, I didn't get time to elaborate .....or ask if it related to BMH.....but it wasn't pleasant to hear. I am not speculating to read anything in to it.....but just makes you wonder, if the poison hasn't vanished totally. Grasshopper
On 25/02/2017 at 11:19, terrytini said: But I think your logic is massively flawed. You keep referring to how many Managers we've had. But if you take it rationally we had Lambert who worked under strangled investment and a disinterested owner until he was burnt out. We then made two daft appointments in Sherwood and Garde. Appointments made on the cheap by a disinterested owner. And we got what we deserved. Are you really saying that IN ANY WAY getting rid of those two had cost us ANYTHING ? Because I don't know anyone who thinks so. So none of those three guys getting sacked CONTRIBUTED to our demise, they were part of the cause. Which leaves RDM and Bruce. Neither of whom have produced an even tolerable level of results or signs of progress. So effectively we are no different than any side. We've a failing Manager and he isn't a special case so we do what every club does. It doesn't guarantee the next guy will succeed? No club can guarantee that when they sack a failing Manager, but all clubs do it because they know their only chance of getting a successful guy is to get rid of an unsuccessful guy . Its simple really, and has been the way of the football world since forever. That is pure truth and 100% the reality of the now

You never know......And I am not ruling that out too. However, conversely, I think positivity is infectious and hopefully that alone can sweep all the cobwebs away. listening to Keith Wyness, he doesn't strike me as a person to not turn a blind eye to those comments. if there is such a thing as backstabbers I am confident he will run them out. back to the interview..... Its a well known saying talk is cheap, but he does sound thorough to me. I have never underestimated the size of the clean up operation from the last administration....but time is a plausible component. If we can embark on a road of gradual improvement, it is well worth waiting for. Edited March 3, 2017 by TRO

The Fun Factory
Having a experienced football person in charge of a football club is a welcome change at Villa- this hasn't happened since Steve Stride left about 10 years ago. Which may or may not have contributed to the years that followed.
