DCJonah
Nothing we haven't heard before. Utter pr bullshit unless actions prove differently. Let's see.
villarule123 Posted December 12, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted December 12, 2014 Europe Literally everything about the club needs to be changed in order for that to happen.
markavfc40
I like the cut of his jib. Actions speak louder than words but things do seem to be being out in place behind the scenes. There is no doubt for me that this club can compete for a top 7 place again. It does however need someone to tap into our huge potential in terms of increasing revenue and a manger who can spend what he is given wisely and then mold a team out of those players he does sign/those that come through the academy and get the best of of them. Doing that and consistently getting back amongst the top 6/7 is easier said than done of course but we are fortunate that this club is big enough to achieve it. westholmevillan
PR Spin at its worst. Like it or not we are still in a scrap for PL survival. The 'grand Fox plan' wont get off the ground if we lose our PL status. Mr Fox, show us that this NOT BS by investing in January. Typical club PR IMO.....talk alot, yet say nothing! The Fun Factory
He sounds keen but I think everyone is a bit jaded after Faulkner promising a lot and delivering nothing. I just don't want the Holte sponsored though.

Bunnski
Oh yeah it has to be pr spin, no way could he possibly be telling it how it is and actually be making loads of positive changes at the club... I'll take him on his word tbh, he has come from a seriously well run club and I'm sure a big part of the reason for him taking the job here was to make us successful again.
Popular Post jjaacckk91
If you actually read what he's saying it makes a lot of sense. If we market ourselves properly we should be around 7th 8th in terms of revenue. If we then spend that properly we should have the 7th/8th best squad/staff And then if we perform to our capability on the footballing side we should be around 7th/8th in the table. Get the foundations right and the rest will follow, which means at least he realises that everything in the background at villa park is not up to scratch. And even if it is pure PR, it doesn't hurt to have some positive news about the club, even if it is just to lure in bigger sponsors. But once agaib we've seen our chairmen spend less than the vast majority of clubs in the last transfer window. So until we actually see any evidence it's just meaningless words. TrentVilla Posted December 12, 2014 Moderator Share Posted December 12, 2014 Ah a three year plan 10 years after a 5 year plan in which we aim to get where we were 4 years ago. As far as I can see Fox is here to raise commercial revenue and not much else, I hope he manages it. Because if he does perhaps we can get rid of Lerner because I don't believe for one minute it will be used to make us a competitive side in the top half of the table.
DCJonah
Of course it won't. You don't put the club up for sale and then implement a long term plan for the club to be successful. Its utter rubbish and unfortunately with the owner we seem to keep buying it.
samjp26
I like the talk of Riley being the Director of Player Recruitment, seems like a serious role. Wonder if we'll actually recruit anybody.
ThunderPower_14
On the upside, making this sort of statement is great for the fans. We either get to see a genuine effort to improve, or we can throw this statement in his face when the funds don't come. Fox is definitely the guy to increase our revenue and hopefully flow that on to the measure of football, wages. I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt at this stage.
villan_007
The guys got a proven track record and hasn't just walked in from a chocolate factory. I like the things he's saying. Let's see if it happens. He's already sorted lovely new dug out chairs. It's a good start!
Jimzk5
What does he mean by "self sufficient"? Surely now after the increased tv income and a meagre budgets for the last 3 years we are making a profit?
smetrov
I really ca believe anyone is enthused by this guy. Hes just another faceless director who seems to offer very little over his predecessor. Hes secured average players contracts...whilst the quality players still look set to leave for nowt. I really don't know why we appoint these types on big salaries...and then task them with serving up the same.

briny_ear
Interesting to see him praise Lambert for admitting his mistakes. Wonder if he'd care to share some of this with the fans, or maybe these conversations only take place in the cosy circle of Lerner-Lambert-Fox-Riley? terrytini
We are only now getting a proper scouting set up ?...and only now getting a stats expert ? If this reaaly is the case what on earth has lambert\ mcleish\ etc been doing ? This stuff is fundamental surely ?
