Aston Villa are holding talks with United Arab Emirates club Baniyas over the future of winger Charles N'Zogbia, according to reports.

The Sun claims that Abu Dhabi side Baniyas are interested in signing the former France international on a free transfer.

N'Zogbia is said to be earning £65,000-a-week at Villa, but is out of favour under Tim Sherwood and has not featured in any of his side's Premier League games this season.

The 29-year-old joined Villa from Wigan Athletic in a £9.5m deal, and has since scored five goals and provided 17 assists in 91 appearances.

.......just goes to prove 10 mill signings don't always turn up trumps.

I wanna know, if he leaves before his contract with us expires, will Trent's clock explode?

I foresee two possibilities. One, N'Zogbia coming face to face with himself would put him into shock and he'd simply pass out. Or two, the situation could create a time paradox, the results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that's a worse case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.

He'd bring a bit of swag to Baniyas for sure

He arguably kept up in the premier league with a few of his performances. I think it was against West Ham when he scored that free kick goal that gave us 3 points. Should also be remembered for some of the good he did.

This kind of talk annoys me!! We should be grateful that one game he turned up and did what he was supposed to do!!

Ok...how bout all the points he cost us?...then maybe, just maybe, we wouldn't have needed digging out of a hole!

Awful player...not because he was rubbish, but because he had the talent and did absolutely nothing with it.

Key here is he doesn't want to leave Birmingham or his £63k a week contract

Tim Sherwood has admitted he will listen to offers for Charles N’Zogbia but the winger is believed to be reluctant to leave Birmingham.
N’Zogbia is one of the highest-earning members of Villa’s squad, on around £63,000 per week, and Sherwood would welcome funds ahead of deadline day.
The 29-year-old, who cost Villa £9.5million in July 2011, still has one year left on his deal but has failed to feature in any matchday squad this season, and is not travelling with his teammates to games.

Sherwood mentioned that Zog's attitude was no problem but he clearly doesn't see him having much involvement.

It shows how low his stock has gone when we can't offer him as a make weight in a deal with a Ligue 1 club or something.

He once said that if he hadn't ended up playing football, then he'd be stealing for a living. Funny how things come full circle isn't it? Stealing a living is okay though.

Interesting stuff.

I suppose the only thing I can say to that is when you come from that sort of environment you make sure you get every penny you can in your career so he's not going to voluntarily rip up his 60k deal here any time soon until the day it runs out.

Plenty of other teams in the area. Surely someone wants to take him off us
