Looking like the Boston Celtics owner is the frontrunner.

It would be the second Boston team to own a Premier League club.

Hopefully he is another lerner.

Im sure big wes problem knows them

They probably will not be able or willing to fund player transfers that Chelsea fans are accustomed to, but they'll do everything else properly. Chelsea fans could do a lot worse, but a little belt tightening is likely.

A lot of talk in the papers that Roman Abramovich has decided he wants his loans back after all.

I'm guessing he's seen how much people are prepared to pay for Chelsea, can't believe how much it is and figured he may as well cash in.

Be interesting to see what happens next and how it affects the bidders, the process and the way the government handle it.

Their government issued licence to operate expires at the end of this month. If the club hasn’t been sold then it can technically not be allowed to continue. The news that Abramovich wants to try to restructure any deal to see him take some of the money will not go down well with the UK gov. He’s been sanctioned for a reason, who’s to say that the £1.5bn wouldn’t go straight back to Putin for the ‘special operation’ effort?

Interesting times for sure.

I wonder if it is him wanting his loan back or he is being pushed by others in the Kremlin because they need the money due to all the sanctions. He has said he didn’t want the loan back which he was very clear about from the start so it seems a bit dodgy but to be fair if I had loaned £1.5 billion and I was now skint I wouldn’t mind getting that money back

A more plausible real deadline is not the expiration of the government's licence (they will presumably just issue another), but the Premier League AGM currently scheduled for early June, as noted in F365 today:

'Like most football leagues, the Premier League holds its AGM at the end of the season to confirm its constitution for the following season. The date of this year’s hasn’t been publicly confirmed yet, but last year it was held on June 10. At this meeting, the 20 clubs that will form the league next season will be confirmed. This is normally one of the relative formalities of this meeting, but this time around the matter could be seriously compromised should the issue of Chelsea’s ownership not have been definitively decided by that point.

It is possible – perhaps even likely – that this meeting could be put back in the event that it hasn’t (the league’s constitution requires them to give 21 days’ notice of these meetings) but there are no guarantees, and even if it were to be delayed, it’s unlikely that the league could do so for more than a few days. Next season starts early on account of the winter World Cup. Without firm assurances that Chelsea can get through next season, the dreaded scenario of the club being expelled from the Premier League has to at least be considered plausible.'

They wont let chelsea fold not a chance.

My biggest concern is where is the money going? As i have suspect some in the government will pocket alot of the cash

Without the paying back of loans I was of the understanding that the proceeds of sale are going to the government.

maybe Roman Abramovich doesn’t want it going on a collection of porn?

That meeting will be a war zone.

The super league six might also have one eye on this as a way to maintain some sort of balance. "Chelsea out, Newcastle in" would be easier for them to withstand than trying to force 7 into 4.

That's some meeting for Chelsea, ownership, sanctions, debts and deciding whether they still vote with the big boys club or with the rest of us with one eye on a different future.

Chelsea were one of the quickest to drop from the ESL, whether true or not they basically said they only went as it was happening with or without them and so they kind of had to tag along but they dropped it pretty quick.

I imagine the others would absolutely take them vanishing and having somebody more 'on side' in their corner.

I reckon chelsea might have problems with these new owners as this group buying them has so many people involved, egos and many different ideas. Its gonna be a absolute nightmare for them all to be on the same page

for a guy that is shit and can never do it in the Premier League it is amazing that Lukaku has now entered the top 20 Premier League goalscorers of all time with 120 level with Gerrard. Only Kane and Vardy that are still playing are ahead of him

It’s interesting that the bid that appears to be gathering most momentum is backed largely by Clearlake Capital.

They’re a VC organisation in the States, I’ve previously worked for a tech company they had in their portfolio and they are interested in one thing only, making a profit.

Ruthless, very target driven and mindful of budgets, I just don’t see them being a good partner for a football club, particularly one that’s been propped up by Russian billions for the last two decades.

The UK government should just seize all his assets and sell them. Roman might as well be Putin's second in command.
