So used to us messing up that that sort of situation, chuffed we tweaked the system and and improved in the second half. Cash had a shocker but Emery changed the system and it turned out well.

As for Spurs the usual hype and no delivery.

they were all over us and should have won it, but we dug in, played some decent stuff at times and did a drive by, i wont complain tho.

Don't forget Bailey. He didn't do that much in terms of on ball the but he did well defensively and pinned them back with his pace and forced them to be wider than they'd have liked defensively with his positioning.

Really poor first half and the Cash/Konsa selection didn't work at all but then a crucial goal before half time but then, as expected, Unai made the required changes to influence the result.

Second half thought we did well and probably had the better of that one.

Special mentions to Martinez and Digne. UTV!

Wow. Big second half, great character, just enough. Didn’t enjoy that though. Need to be on our game to beat Bournemouth then we come home again. Happy days, exciting times with players coming back.

A really weird, unconvincing game but huge to get the win all the same. Looked quite weary at times, lost an awful lot of loose balls and 50/50s, and had to rely on the woodwork and Martinez to bail us out, but the second half was a big improvement and with how depleted Spurs were it was a matter of riding it out until the started to fade.

Huge win in any case. A third of the way through the season, in the top four and only two points off the top, it's crazy stuff. Getting there in the process by beating far more lauded sides, today included. Happy for Villa to still somehow be flying under the radar in this way.
