I'd like to see a backup out and out DM come in.

Tielemans is dougie's backup but what about Kamara.

Dendoncker is nowhere to be seen.

I don't think we sign one dimensional players anymore, and I'm ok with that.

I'd rather us have players who can excel at several things.

Top specialist DMs aren't coming to us to be " backup " either.

So you'd be more like to get a Dendonker type.

Although, a promising prospect may be a possibility, but we already have the likes of Iroegbunam?

He played 33 minutes in the last 2 games including a 5 minute performance, he has had good cameos but not excellent

He is the talk of Barca at the moment, Xavi congratulated him on his attitude saying he is determined to be a Barca player defying his detractors. He has scored two really important goals for them, and no one has scored more (yes, only two!). It would be a miracle if he ended up leaving or coming here, but would love him.

What the hell are Chelsea doing?

Proper basket case, thinking players on 8/9 year contracts are actually going to be motivated to play for their wages.  They must think they have found the golden goose!

Pochetino is decent, but I don’t think that Bohly idiot is helping him!

Yes, they seem to be operating their "Buy Everyone" policy again don't they? I wonder whether the PL will ever have a word with them? They seem to think they can do what they want and that they will never be brought to account for their spending again!

I don't see the prudence in the Johnson interest.

  • Firstly he is not prolific enough to warrant such a lofty transfer fee.
  • Secondly, we want diversity, he is too similar to what we already have.
  • Thirdly we have young players, not far behind him in terms of goal threat, and one has just been sold.

I think we are entering a zone, where Johnson, is not consistent enough for us....I could be wrong of course.

I think we can't look to sign the lot of them, we're not Chelsea, perhaps 2 or 3 maximum during this window...:D

So £4m a year for 8 years without too much effort?  £32m guaranteed and contracted whether I play or not?

Still not seeing the inventive to actually try!

By trying you get double that. I means it's easier to move players on and loan players out if they aren't winning the battle for mins on the pitch vs the others.

Things feel a little too quiet on the transfer front for us.

Yeah I think we're there interested in say 3 players or so who have us as their 2nd or 3rd choice and we just need to be ready to see if one comes available. Usually there is chain reaction, for example for Barca to register Felix if they loan him they need to move someone on. While if they don't loan him he might choose a season with us etc..

I think we'll see balls moving Wed

Transfermarkt doesnt have the A.Ramsey deal shown in our departures this year, seems strange as they normally dont miss a transfer in or out of a club.

Maybe Burnley will get deducted points for playing him yesterday 😝

Liverpool having internal discussions about signing Douglas Luiz as well apparently. The disrespect of these rumours is unbelievable. As if our wishes, or even Dougie's, don't factor in to it.

They can't afford him. It would take over £100m easily.

My what could happen roundup as the closing of the transfer window approaches

Olsen, Digne, Chambers, Dendoncker, Iroegbunam, Traore, Bailey, Philogene, and Davis Sold - not all of them of obviously.

A new left-back if Digne sold
A new right-back as we only have one
Or a central defender cover if Konsa going to be used as right-back
A DM if Dendoncker is sold
An extra winger/No.10 as we're short with Buendia injury, Coutinho and Philogene leaving
Back-up to Watkins depending on how much we're prepared to rely on Duran should Watkins pick up an injury

what I think might happen

A few departures and I think we will at least try and sign one more defensive player and another attacker

On those wages?  You have basically signed your meal ticket for life, apart from professional pride (which isn’t always in the modern footballer) there is very little incentivisation  to a) push or b) leave.

I think the model is horrible

I'd say we'd see Diaby and Zaniolo swapping places mid game. McGinn seems to be doing well from LM now too. JJ is gonna have to fight to get into this team.

Watkins, Diaby and Zaniolo will be swapping places mid-attack not just mid-game.  It's exactly what Emery wants - players hitting the right space at the right time knowing that that movement creates space for someone else as well.  Three attackers who are (generally) good at attacking space is going to be really hard for defenders to play against.

Pretty simple. They buy every midfielder in the the league and then teams have to play a 5-0-5 formation against them and they clean up…

I'd be slightly nervous about squad depth if we didn't sign  anyone else.  However, it has been a great window with real class added, and we're clearly  not signing anyone for the sake of it. Anyone else that comes in has to compete for a first team place and offer something a little different  to what we have.

Yesterday's selection was illuminating in that Cash came into the side,  playing a role he hadn't done for us before and replaced a player who had a goal and assist in his last game. if we do make signings in attack or at full back, they'll  need to have similar versatility and tactical  flexibility

It's  hard for me to see the obvious gaps in the squad given how many players seem to be able to cover a lot of roles. The obvious one might be a left sided attacker/mid but... Diaby could cover there,  Watkins often gives us width down that side,  McGinn has been incredibly effective in a left sided role after a shaky game at Newcastle and then there's Zaniolo and Ramsey to come back (plus of course Buendia in the longer term). And Bailey could play there if needed.

Again at right back we're not overdone for choice, but have decent options.

If we do make signings,  I don't  think it will be back up, but to increase our options. And if we do bring anyone in, who are they realistically replacing/ competing with for first team places?

I'd be surprised if it isn't someone we haven't been linked with before.

I just don't think we work in the way in which we'd set up a brand new deal at this point before the deadline. So it will be one we made initial contact with, got put on hold, then we go back to complete.

I think it's a forward from Torres, Felix, Johnson etc....and a left back if Digne goes. We might even try to actively make that happen by working on the replacement first.

I think Emery is happy with the options at RB so probably nothing happening there.

Outs could be interesting though. A lot that could feasibly move on.
