Most harrowing draw ever, too sad too cry, just lying on my side on the floor starring, not even enough energy to blink, want to dissolve into the ground. The stars will never shine again.

pro's:

• we went behind, played terribly, then turned it around in the second half and rescued a point, which in of itself is a huge success for us considering how bad we are at it in recent years.
• Emery is willing to make changes, including half time changes to impact the game.

Cons:

• Our finishing.
• crossing like its going out of fashion (it seems a default response when we panic about breaking teams down - still)..
• Digne & Buendia, both poor.
• Bailey, so bad he deserves his own bullet point, seriously wth is it with this guy.

Dissapointed about the drop off from the Spurs performance but won’t be getting fatalistic about it. 10 from 15 points . We’d of all took that.

Buendia was **** pathetic. Honestly need a upgrade on him come the summer he isnt good enough. We massively ovee spent on him.

Bailey although i feel sorry for him was pure shite today. Taking too many touches not pasisng the ball and losing possession. He aint as goid as his dad thinks  he is. Very inconsistent. That miss at the end was absolutely shocking but he knows that. No point crucifying him as he looks devastated so we should just move on

Gave Martinez MOTM for two good saves that kept us in it, but Mings would be a suitable choice as well for a real battling performance. 

The first half was a dire performance and we were very lucky to be only 1 down because it could easily have been 3 or 4 (and would have been against a more threatening team) but to be fair to Emery the substitutions he made turned the game. Dendoncker had an impact in the middle, Augustinsson was a huge improvement going forward and back compared to Digne, and Ings grabbed the winner with a real striker's finish. If you can't get it right at the start, at least fix it during the game, and he managed that so fair play. 

Re Bailey, yes it was a poor contact and a bad miss, but I was more annoyed with how he played the first 60 minutes or so. He actually brightened considerably in the second half. Should have scored, but there you go. I don't think Buendia offered anything for 60 odd minutes either, needs to give the ball away less in the final third. I know his role is to try and do more low-percentage stuff but it wasn't his day today. 

Overall, a disappointing result and a mostly disappointing performance, but we didn't lose and we keep the scoreboard ticking over. Need to learn some lessons and start much better next time.

For sure, we've signed him to score in situations like that. Just saying it wasn't on a plate for him. It's the touch on his left that isn't quite good enough, and then he has to stretch for the finish.

No doubt he should have scored, but it happens. I'm gutted for him. I'm sure he will get the chance to redeem himself.

I thought buendia and Bailey were very poor I would like to have seen both come off and really am looking forward to Ramsey coming back we desperately need some pace moving forward in the team. Anyone time down sarr from Watford still ?

Awful first half, much better second half.

As I said in the match thread, Lopetegui knows Unai well from Spain. They seemed ready for everything we did first half. Credit Unai for making adjustments at halftime.

He got all the subs right. Ings is my MOTM; not only did he score, but that pass for Bailey in stoppage time was delicious. That was Augustinsson's best game in a Villa shirt, at least that I've seen, and Donck is a solid player. I'd rather see Donck start than McGinn; the Donck-Bouba-Doug combination has looked good when we've used it. Even Coutinho looked lively.

What didn't work? I'm usually a Buendia fan but he tried to be too clever too many times today, which has been a worrying trend. He's trying too hard. Bailey has seemed off since the break; he's trying too hard, too. His crying at the end suggests that he's putting a lot of pressure on himself. Cash looked out of place when he was playing in midfield. With all the problems that the Wolves press caused us in the first half, we needed to get early balls up to Watkins and use his hold up skills, but he was back helping with defending too often, which I think was a tactical mistake.

Both teams can look at opportunities and say "what if?" Our dominance in the last 20-30 minutes, the miracle clearance on Augustinsson's strike, and Bailey's late miss leave me thinking that maybe we should have found a way to get 3 points, but on the balance, a draw is a fair result after that first half.

We’d have crumbled and lost that game under Gerrard.

At least we came out fighting in the second half, Emery was brave with his subs and we were unlucky not to nick it at the end.

Happy to take a point after that atrocious first half.

Out off.the ball movement at home was non existent. Out intent, our purpose, our gameplan was nothing.

Utter shit Villa and aim not lettering the manager get away Scott free as he sets them up,  organises them and he got outdone early and didn't change it.

 

Worst performance from Emery and his side.

Hr should be gutted, I like him a lot but he's done the hard part and missed there. On the back of a few other misses. 

Improved second half, then morons that booed end of the first half should be made to have season tickets at the noses. Clearly better organised even when things aren't going for us than the Gerrard days. Coudl easily have had three points but coming back to get one is ok. We've got a long way to go before we boss teams at VP every week. The improvements are clear, ew need 2 or 3 players in Jan. Wide mos pressingly, not to replace Bailey but to help balance things and to give him a hand.

Two points dropped really as we had it in us to score more than one. Work in progress and we need to be more patient than the dickheads who booed at half time.

Honestly, I get  the reaction but I don't get it, too. A bit much, maybe. He shouldn't feel so bad. He got his legs tangled a bit -- and he needs to work on composure -- but it's not the FA cup final. Yeah, fans are gutted, but we go on.

I just wish we had a full blooded captain. The first half was insipid, and Unai could do nothing and none of it his fault, the players needed a rocket up their arse. We need a proper midfield captain who can grab the game by the throat and get stuck in to our own players
