Yes, so about late February /March before he is available. All depends how quickly he heals.

Will be nice to have him back before the end of the season though, for a young player having a whole season off must be psychologically quite a hit

Lucky he isn’t that young then…

It will likely take a lot of time until he’s back to full fitness. He also has to get used to the league and the tempo, he didn’t really have time to do that before the injury.

That said he looked highly competent

True he isn’t young for a player, but he’s a young person under 30… I probably should’ve said young person

The social media team have posted a thumbs up pic from Diego. Wonder if he's back in training??

He might be doing light exercises with a ball again but he’s miles off full training.

January return would be a miracle from where he was in august.

He'll have just start rehabilitation on learning to walk again, there's almost 0% chance we'll see him this season.  He fully ruptured his Achilles, there's a good chance he'll have lost quite a bit of pace, even when he's 100%.

It was an awful thing to happen to him, especially with a new club at 29.

Can't wait to see him again though, he'll be a proper warrior.

So why did Gerrard say he would definitely feature towards the end of the season? Usual criticisms aside, he was quite open and factual about player injuries unlike Smith.

I saw a video yesterday of him doing some kind of exercise with what looked like about 150 kilo on the bar. He isnt doing that unless he is coming on quickly with his recovery..

I have no doubt he will not be as strong as before , but the science around injuries is getting better and better. Used to be that a cruciate was game over for a player. These days the effect is negligible once it has been rebuilt.

Reports initially that Feb or March would be the time frame.
