Bit weird for anyone to try to infer he was referring to Brentford the suburb of London.

It’s a pretty low profile place and it’s doubtful he lives there or frequents it, not on a footballer’s salary.A bit like a Villa player saying “**** Aston”.

He meant the club, his employer, and it’s a huge insult to them and the fans.

Monumental spunkbubble.

Definitely. I’d maybe, maybe buy that excuse if Brentford were, say, Middlesbrough.

But it’s in London.

He’s talking about the football club. And he’s an idiot.

He should have been banned doing the Zulu hand sign in front of our fans after scoring just to wind them up - went massively under the radar because it’s relatively unknown across the country. Adebayor had a 2 game suspended ban and a fine for sliding on his knees at the other end of the pitch to the Arsenal fans, well that logo has a lot more connotation to it and likely to rile up the worst people. **** word removed.

In a regular workplace I imagine such an act may indeed constitute gross misconduct.

I don't think he meant to be impolite, or show alack of respect to Brentord in that clip, seems like he said 'nowhere special' rather than naming Brentford as the team he plays for, because he didn't want to come across as showing off or being big headed.

He'd already said he was a professional footballer. When asked what team you play for after saying that, why else would you not name the club other than if you're embarrassed to be associated with them?

Brentford are a fantastically well run club and they deserve far more respect than that. Toney needs a reality check, he isn't the megastar he clearly thinks he is.

Yep, you’d think after his previous comments he’d be wiser to it. If he was trying to be humble it just comes off of as disrespectful, especially given he’s already said, ‘F*** Brentford’.

You can be a professional footballer and play in any of the lower leagues or even non league football, there are a lot more professional footballers that play at those lower levels than in the Premier League, he already told them he was a professional footballer, but didn't want to make a big deal of the fact that he was a professional footballer at a well known Premier League club like Brentford, I'm pretty sure if he played for Aston Villa, Man Utd, Liverpool or whoever he would have answered in the same way.

Imagine if a Man City player was asked the same question and answered 'no one special', it wouldn't be seen as direspectful, but rather a player not wanting to make a big deal over the fact that they play for such a well known club, and they would probably get praised for being so humble and down to earth, bearing that in mind people are being kind of disrespectful to Brentford themselves in presuming he means it in a negative way because he plays for Brentford.

Also he was apparently stopped by tiktokers who make videos of themselves stopping people in fancy looking cars and asking them what their favorite crypto currency is, there was probably an element of him wanting to get away, so with that in mind would make sense for him not to want to tell them that he plays for a well known club like Brentford, as that would obviously lead to more questions.

I remember I was wearing a pair of £200 jeans (I only paid £1.99 for them second hand and didin't realize they were normally expensive) and someone asked me what kind they were and rather than answering Diesel jeans made in Italy, I just replied, they're nothing special, I'm not sure, I just got them from a charity shop.

Because he's being filmed? He doesn't want or try to give it "the big I am" - he's just being humble, IMO. I mean id some stranger stopped me or you and asked questions while filming, I'm not sure if we'd reveal exactly who we worked for and stuff - you might say the NHS (as a generic health worker - like him saying "footballer" )  or I might say Engineering,  but would you say  "I work for [exact name of Hospital]?  or me say "exact name of employer and worksite" and if you didn't or I didn't, would that be "disrespectful"?
