They're so good.

Everything works.

Players to manager to sporting director all in unison. We're far from that at the moment despite being the bigger club, but the building blocks are there.

Really interested to see how far they can go.

Their entire XI that has outplayed Leicester cost less than Wesley, Trezeguet and Marvelous.

Not sure can get that far sadly, some years in top flight maybe a decade at most but cant see more than that. Lot of things against them being a long term top flight success

I think they will hit a ceiling and eventually struggle. They played well today but still lost.

i was definitely not impressed with the style when they came to Villa Park, in Championship they played slick football but they were like Stoke or Wimbledon that day.

New Bournemouth. They were breath of fresh air when they first came up aswell.

Eventually they'll hit the wall. All it takes is a few poor signings and managerial appointments.

Despite everything he's done for the club, Benham still gets pelters from a small (but vocal) minority of supporters. I can foresee a situation in a few years time where he's just had enough and sells it on.

He's not been shy of showing his frustrations with complaints about the colour of the seats, the short-sightedness of some fans or their short memories. His career shows (before Brentford) that he does something for a while, makes a success of it then jumps into something else. Premier League has been the target for the last few years. Now that's achieved, all he needs is for the club to stabilise itself in the league and he might well view his job as done. The key then (and of course this is all speculation) would be who he sells to.

They are 2 points ahead of us and we have been crap so its a bit early to compare them to Bournemouth yet. Lets wait a bit longer.

Mike Ashley would be interested.

Maybe, but the way the club is run is totally different than Bournemouth. They don't tend to do bad signings

Brentford are a fascinating club

Brentford don't really do this part though.

At a higher level now. For all the hype about Toney he's not actually scored that many goals. Interesting to see who they target if he does leave them end of the season.

Was looking at their managers record since Bentham came in They actually haven't appointed that many. Had Mark Warburton who got them in championship play offs in 14/15 and then they sacked him and then they appointed this guy:

Matthew Benham: Brentford 'made mistake' with Marinus Dijkhuizen - BBC Sport

Quote

Brentford owner Matthew Benham says the Championship club "didn't get it right whatsoever" when they appointed Marinus Dijkhuizen as head coach in the summer.

The Dutchman was sacked by the Bees in September after winning just two of their first eight games of the season.

"We did a lot of research and looked at his record," Benham said.

They then got in Dean who did solid work for them for three years before Frank pushed them on but that shows the methodical research isn't always bullet proof.

Future manager comes in who wins just two of first 8 games at prem level and obviously it will be relegation battle.

I'm not sure they're going to establish themselves for 5-10 years at this level as with the stadium and resources and everything they're a very very small club....but of course they're ridiculously fun to watch currently and fans having the time of their lives watching them as they've simply never seen better. Again eventually expectations will start rising there aswell.

Fair enough, we shall see.

Toney cost them £5m plus add ons, so he's doing OK for a £5m player in the Prem. Plus obviously, he scored about 35 goals to get them up last season.

I think they'll be a Premier League staple as long as Benham is there. They are near-on the best run club in world football in my opinion. As you said, they're very very small - their success is mental.

It's interesting looking at the managers who didn't cut it at Brentford. Both Warburton and Dijkhuizen didn't lose their jobs because of results. The were binned because they challenged the plan (in Warburton's case) or were unable to adapt to it (Dijkhuizen). If you look at Franks' start, it was less than impressive but Benham knew that Franks was always going to work within the parameters of "the system" and that same system showed that he would come good. Football is such a random thing but Brentford are so slaved to the statistical methodology that you're either all-in or it's not going to work.It feels so counterintuitive to have such a seemingly inflexible approach but it does appear to work. So many teams have caught up to it now though (although I doubt many have adopted it so comprehensively) so it will be interesting to see how they adapt in the coming year or two.
