It would be typical Villa if we sign a £25m striker from AC Milan only to get vaporized in a nuclear war the day after.

Edit: should've seen he has a player thread and that joke had been made inside the first 10 posts

Tbf, Small Heath looks like a nuclear fallout zone.

Schalke midfielder Nabil Bentaleb reportedly offered to Aston Villa and Everton

Dave - all this type of link are just clickbait.  Literally nothing of substance - "reportedly offered to" = no interest from us, maybe an agent touting around someone unhappy, probably not even that.

Just ignore them.

as I said in the barry thread, its all about payment structure, we bought Wes for £22m, doesn't mean we gave them £22m upfront in the summer impacting FFP, it'll hopefully be spread across his contract, its what all the big teams are doing, its what you'd hope purslow in an expert in, if he says we have £30m to spunk up the wall then relax and enjoy it, he knows more than any gutter journalist or blues nose blogger does

That's a nice way of putting it lol

Thanks for the eye opener, no pun intended with your spunk comment 😂

Spreading these payments out would definitely help us and if that's what happened last summer means we have far more left if contracts are being paid for overtime.

The usual reports are that we are in FFP bother, but can never trust until you hear other views. The way you put it makes more sense, Purslow is indeed a smart man who's gotten many deals over the table, big ones at that. Purslow also has Nicola Ibbettson by his side and she's been apart of big named deals also, hopefully they are a dream team in working deals out.

You don't know they are clickbait though. Yes agreed until they actually sign then it's no clarification, but this is the transfer thread where all gossip about transfers is aloud and it doesn't hurt to keep people informed of anything does it now 😉

Well to be frank, I do know they are clickbait because there is nothing to suggest that any of it is anything other than a bit of random speculation.

'reportedly offered to' - second hand information and when has a club ever brought in a player they were 'offered'. It's not how it works.

'given the fact that Smith wants a midfielder, a move this month could potentially suit both parties.' - I could write this with as much authority.

'might be an interesting left field swoop this month' - again, just random guessing.

I know it's the transfer thread and about speculation, but there's a speculation source blacklist (for new player threads) because of the crap that's out there. Personally I'd prefer transfer speculation to have some foundation from reasonable sources or at least be an obvious personal preference.

Big Percy says no r.e: Piatek.  It's all about the Reina (possibly).

We always get our hopes up to be dashed......young, previously prolific striker which would say we mean business to a has-been goalkeeper who while might be ok is just a stop gap!
