All people are talking about is the red card but a man, much bigger in physical stature, is rolling around the floor in pain when he’s been barely touched and nobody mentions it. He wasn’t hurt, he probably didn’t even feel it, but it’s ok. It’s ok to deliberately try and get an opponent sent off through playacting. And nobody mentions it. The commentators, the pundits. Nobody. All I keep hearing is, ‘Luiz was daft’, ‘there was contact’, ‘you can’t do that nowadays’. But nobody is talking about the blatant cheating and gamesmanship from Mitrovic. We’ve become immune to it. Players just rolling around, cheating, diving, playacting. It isn’t a new thing. It’s been in the game for probably 20 years now. I just find it staggering that nobody talks about it anymore. It’s just ‘part of the game’. Another balls up by referees apologised for after that game.
