Remember when some fans were saying we should drop him.............

I know. I tried suggesting maybe he was important even if he made a mistake or two, but nope.

It's the weird nature of football fans where a something new always is the better option, be a benched player, a new manager or tactic.

You could see the same with Man Utd since Ferguson left or how Arsenal fans were sure they were being held back by Wenger. Or Rosenborg sacking their coach despite winning the league and domestic cup because they didn't get into the CL.

Can we put to bed this idea that the Mings injury is a blessing in disguise? Yeah he makes the odd mistake in possession, but on balance he is probably our second most important player.

Yeah it's not a blessing, it's a bad thing obviously.

He makes the regular mistake rather than the odd one and he needs to be smarter about it and not try to be fancy when it's not needed.

But he's still very important and our best CB.

Tyrone although 26 is still relatively inexperienced, particularly at PL level. Hopefully his decision making will improve as he gains more experience. All the other attributes are there to make him a very good player.

He'll be so good once he jacks in the cruyff turns outside our own area. If you're having to go to that extreme, the pass isn't there and the ball goes long to the new striker to hopefully holdup.

Have to say our defending from corners has been a joke since he went out. That Evans header, one we let in v Southampton and we could've conceded at least two today. No dominant presence to just head balls out.

I think the worst thing is we are not Spain 2010, we are a tall team so players should be able to win aerial balls.

This is not just in our box, in opposition box too. Rarely look like scoring

Watching Maguire today and that guy looks so shaky on the ball its incredible for 80million, he was so uncomfortable. The difference between him and Mings on the ball is incredible, the only issue is Mings thinks he is too good on it

I spotted Mings in the background as they were interviewing Jack and Conor after the game yesterday, training with the others that didn’t play. I hope he’s ready for Watford, might be too soon but he’d be a huge boost for us in terms of leadership and work rate.

We definitely need some work on set pieces, at both ends of the field. Always kind of surprises me there aren’t real, real specialists in this (like for particular plays in American football) - you would think you could make a lot of money if you were a good freelance setpiece coach!

The Daily Star :crylaugh:reporting that Manure is readying a double swoop for Grealish and Mings in January.

£80m and possibly Tuanzebe going the other way.

Probably not happening :D

🤣  They've made a rod for their own back with Maguire.

Not just his defense but without him our ability to build out the back is practically nil. He is our second best player by far. Also, notice how much hate Target has been getting now that his security blanket has been missing. Ming's returns, we sign a new striker and winger and I think we push back up the table.

I think the source being the daily star tells you all you need to know about that one however I would welcome Axel back in a heartbeat as he isn’t getting a look in at United

More than just his defensive abilities, we've lot his presence and personality on the pitch. He's a talker, he energises the team and doesn't just stand by when teammates are coasting (just ask El Ghazi). The sooner he comes back, the better.
