This is tactical Nativity on a new level. 1) it doesn't waste any time c) it disrupts the telepathy of the team with two new consciousness's to connect with instead of one. The subs should have been staggered. If we had picked up an injury it would have been squeeky botty cheek time. Also why bring on Andre Powederpuff Green. It would have been better to switch Kodjia to the wing and totally bring on Davis earlier. Both need as many minutes as they can get. we would have been able to lump it long to davis by passing Millwall's double decker midfield. he could of flicked it on to the overlapping Kodjia then bingo! Smith should of come out and said he got it wrong in the postmatch. "How to win friends and influence people" Even if he did, ( and I don't care 'cos we won and created loads of chances)it's not going down well that quip.

Of course JV - but we don't know this is going to happen do we? We do however know that we are playing with confidence and momentum and of course players also get injuries whilst training

Vive_La_Villa
@screwdriver you can criticise a managers actions even when we’ve won. Nothing wrong with that. But when we’ve just won 10 in a row you really are clutching at straws mate. 1
Villan_of_oz Posted April 24, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted April 24, 2019 I'm going to go into a very niche business venture..... Selling long handled shovels. Dave-R
Smith makes this guys 5th best manager in the championship, wonder if that would raise since we've won another 2 straight games from his placing of Smith. Bruce gets the cabbage mention and ranked midway and most likely all because of his work at Wednesday which doesn't cut it for me. Popular Post BOF Posted April 26, 2019 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted April 26, 2019 I love this! Deano Quote Aston Villa marked their record-breaking win over Millwall with a unique debrief led entirely by the PLAYERS. Boss Dean Smith ditched the drawing board for a week, insisting that his in-form stars critically analysed the performance ahead of the trip to Leeds United on Sunday. Usually it’s the coaching team picking holes in the previous performance and highlighting areas that can be improved. But Smith felt it was the right time to try something different after securing a play-off place with a record ten wins on the spin last time out. “The players themselves take great ownership at the moment,” Smith said. “We did a debrief from the Millwall game on Thursday and the players ran it. “It wasn’t myself leading it or JT, it was the players. “When you’ve got that, it’s a big thing. It’s something we’ve been trying to do for two or three months. The players and staff have to buy into it and we all have to agree on it. “But we did it because I believe it will make us better.” So how did the players go about it? “I split them into three groups to look at different areas - us in possession, out of possession and set-pieces,” Smith explained. “Players will see eight or nine clips and pick three or four clips out to the rest of the players. Read More “Some of it can be self-critical, others can be what we’ve done really well. “It’s all about the team improving. “We don’t invent the wheel, here, We just try to make players better.” The action was yet another sign of Smith’s forward-thinking and diverse approach to management. He’s widely recognised as one of the brightest managers in the division and continues to think outside the box. Smith admits Villa are in a ‘good moment’ and is desperate for the run to continue at Elland Road this weekend. But he was keen to reiterate the need to focus on improving and winning promotion. “Just getting into the play-offs is not the be-all and end-all. The aim is to get promoted. The football club lost at the final hurdle last season and that remains in the memory banks of a lot of people. But there’s an awful lot of belief here and a lot of smiles, too, which shows we’re doing a lot of things right"

Hopefully Tammy will be fit enough for then as well and his shoulders fine ( apparently he was seen driving a car with his arm in a sling, that's crazy, does he want to make it to the play offs at all). I'm fully confident in Smith to undo whatever comes at us, we are going to be tough to beat. Smith is for sure the Carol vorderman of football, very smart indeed. He has made some very impressive moves and then some and I suspect he's just found his thirst for achieving the unachievable like making history. Would you all say that Smith has been our best man at the helm ever? or does Tony Barton still hold that because if europe?? The history books say yes dont they, I have to agree in some way with it as its some achievement alone. I mean we are also the most inform side in the world are we not, it really is tough to pick it all apart i think, I'd say he's one of the best we've ever had in charge of our squad.
