An inconsistent mid table position The resident Leeds fan said Leeds were an example of a consistent team and yet destroyed us for not being the same. We've played 2 games less and have 2 points less. Amazing really.

Mjvilla
Consistent Leeds struggling to a limp defeat without their best player today. Welcome to midtable lads, this is what it looks lads. It might not be glamorous, but it's a damn sight better than the last 10 years! 3

We all have our own line, but we use ours to judge whether other people use one or the other of your ways of looking at the game. I don't, really. I watch a game, enjoy the good bits, but the bad stuff - sure I can see things that (IMO) didn't go right - the goalie dropped the ball, the forward missed a sitter(s), the winger over-played, the midfielder didn't track back, the centre half was timid...whatever. But the stuff mentioned about "drawing a line" or the next step which is "who is to blame" - I don't really go for the blame thing, not game by game. I guess most people do, and then you get this "sack the manager" stuff and arguments about "but he's...[whatever]". To me it's a bit mental. One human, helped by some other humans, manages and coaches another set of human. Humans are fallible and inconsistent and get things right and get things wrong. Then there's another set of humans specifically working to defeat our set of humans at a sport in which refereeing, conditions, suspensions, injuries and so on all play a big part. And some of the other sets of humans are better at what they do, or more experienced and so on. But yeah - get angry and shout and argue "sack the manager" - what's the point? I mean I didn't rate Bruce as the right man for Villa, ever. Didn't want him before he came, but once he was here, I was kind of "OK, poor choice, he won't take us up IMO, but I might be wrong, he needs to be given time and at the end of it either I'll have been right and we'll still be down, or I'll be wrong and we'll be promoted" for once I was right. The same kind of thing applies with Deano - except I rate him and think that given a fair wind he'll keep on getting better as he spends more time in this new (not yet 2 seasons experience) division, competing against better coaches and managers and players. If he falls away - not over a game, or 10 games, or even the second half of a weird season, but if we start going definitively backwards, then his time will come to an end here too. But I'm not worrying about it, or arguing about it - it's just an opinion, and whatever I think, makes not a jot of difference. Football is meant to be an enjoyment, so enjoy it, and if you don't, then stop watching. Sorted! 5
VillaChris
Zero complaints about the manager if we've played a bit more like this in last two months! See it's not impossible to play with purpose and intensity and create chances without Jack as we've seen in first 45 so that's the frustration so many of our performances have been way off since Feb. rodders0223
Remember the Smith that brought Kodjia on against Rotherham when we lost Mings to a red card. What happened to that proactive guy
tom_avfc
Great win today and a thoroughly deserved three points. Fancy us to beat palace which would take us above the 50 point mark and represent our best season in years. Two or three top quality signings and the return of Jack should make us very competitive next season.
Popular Post Indigo
Won a game via playing well, working hard, and even Keinan Davis getting a few minutes. Hope some of you lot can park your egos for a few days and not make this thread utterly unbearable all round. 3

DCJonah
Genuinely excited about next season. We're a few players away from having a very competitive squad complemented with some excellent youth players.

His Name Is Death
Absolutely heading in the right direction. With a few more choice signings, we could be a real force next season. Thank you, Deano.
supermon
Frickin well done Deano, some of the play today that I saw was excellent. Please keep this up. Wish Davis got extra mins cos he deserved it but other than that credit to him.
